Why wrecked? Except ManU they couldn't fart in CL... or in UEFA Cup,hell in the early 90,Yugoslavia had even better domestic league, and teams. For example: google is your friend.

ManU was a breakthrough after many years of suffering being inferior to Italian,German and specially Spanish clubs. SKY brought them money,SKY brought them fame around the world and SKY produced them a major european and world trophies.....and isn't that what a football is played for?
He was being ironic.

I was not involved in this debate at all, I was not compairing anyone, you should read before you post. I just stated an observation since weedguru is a newer member and isn't aware of the fact, he is now though, that for some members, it's DP>God. That is plainly obvious. And you acting all "Gendarme" for your precious DP, is just as boring, if not more.
What do you have against Del Piero?

Who is this God you speak of? Is he such a great player?

Why is it when anyone criticizes Del Piero, half the forum jump on him/her? It's really boring, annoying, and frankly unjustified.

Each one is entitled to their own opinion. It seems that all objectivity flies out the window when it comes to DP, and is reaplaced by emotions and sentimentality. Granted, DP is a living legend and has done more for this club than anyone else, but he is still human and is not prone from making mistakes or receiving critisicm, and this is coming from an "objective" DP fan.

We are all here because we support Juventus, not DP, and DP is part of the club, not the other way around. No one single player is bigger than a historical institution such as Juventus.

Safe it, I would agree some can be too biased, if you just didnt flaunt your "oooh biased" card way too soon, I mean, people are saying Del Piero is not worse then Cantona, you know, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zizou wasnt mentionned for a reason, despite them being mentionned together with Cantona. But saying Cantona isnt better was enough for you to jump the gun and deem it biasm to say otherwise (you werent involved you say, but you conveniently enough said so when the Cantona-Ale thing was the topic).

I would understand if it was about clear big bias of involving a player who is clearly better (Zizou for one), but in this case, its more like you showing the biasm.

Btw, is Modric still better then Diego? Just checking :D

Look, I don't think Cantona is or was better than DP, though I do think he was a great player. My whole beef with these biased people is the fact they got offended when someone thought Cantona was the bigger player. Cantona was immediately stripped of his legend status, no way is he more talented, etc., etc. and the guy who implied Cantona was the better player was insulted as an EPL fan and/or ManU fan. FFS, let him think what he wants to think. If you don't see something wrong with that scenario, then there's something wrong with you too. Someone once said C.Ronaldo takes his free-kicks stronger than DP, which he does, and bam! How dare he think that he takes better free-kicks than DP, even though he never implied he takes them better, only stronger. And things like this only happen when DP is touched. I'm not imagining these things, it's a well known fact certain portion of fans are blind when it comes to DP and it makes me sick to be honest.

And yes, I do. I'm not gonna change my opinion of him just because he signed for Juventus. If he proves me wrong I won't have a hard time admitting it, especially if he brings a Scudetto with him.

There are some simple minded biased knee jerkers around here, and thats regardless of Del Piero or not, they are just clueless in general. But it doesnt mean you should generalise like the way you did.

And I havent heard Ronaldo being said to take it stronger, he shoots it hard as hell (obvious), but I heard often in some media outlets he is the best freekick taker (which he isnt, improved drastically in last 2 seasons though) and that some clueless commentators said Del Piero took his approach from the former etc. In general thats the kind of BS hype making that generally fuels this kind of petty BS.

And it doesnt have anything to do with Diego signing for us, but Diego IS better then Modric and allways been :D

But the problem is, it's insanity to say Cantona was a better player than Del Piero. It doesn't matter who is claiming what... it's the idea, not the person, that should be attacked. But instead, the "DP Lover Fanboy Sluts" banter comes out yet again.

And that's why I think Vlatz is in the wrong here.

I disagree. They said the same thing about Rome you know. Rome is an idea. Juventus is an idea. The idea is bigger than Caesar, the idea is bigger than Del Piero.

But it's not true. The emperors built Rome. They were Rome. Del Piero is Juventus. There's a time when the club is bigger than the player. It almost always is. But legends are bigger than the club. Del Piero is bigger than Juventus. Zidane is bigger than Real Madrid. Maradona is bigger than Napoli.

The whole club thing is bollocks.

wait what ? I love del piero but no way is he bigger than the club. I will certainly still support Juve when Del Piero retires, and if he decides to go out of retirement and join a emirate team, I would still support juve over that emirate team. So in my eyes Juve is more important.

If you want to compare legendry status then again juve > del piero. Its because of our history and achivements to why new players want to join us. Otherwise we would just be another roma.

Maradona was bigger than napoli, because he's achievements and histiory was bigger than napoli's. But in know way or form do you regard del piero bigger than juve. There was a juve b4 him and their will be one after him

None of them are bigger than the club itself.Never have been, and never will be.How you can even come up with a statement like that is appalling to say the least.
