Del Piero is deffinately better than Vieri. Del Piero is a legend at Juventus. Vieri was playing for Juve, Inter and Milan.... He went from Inter to Milan. That`s like going from Barcelona to Real. Nobody who has character would do that. A few years ago he changed his club every year to get more money. Inter fans hate him for going to Milan and at Milan he was just doing crap.
Del Piero is a legend at Juventus and a binconeri. Juventus fans will always remember Del Piero. He is an important part of the juventus-history.

Del Piero is a true legend. He has been faced with injuries and controversy for much of his career and come out on top each time. After the horrible injury in 98 people thought he was done, and the poor seasons that followed seemed to confirm that, but those people were wrong. He bounced back like only champions do and is rightfully respected by the vast majority of Juve fans. He has had to overcome numerous obstacles and stands before us as one of the most symbolic Juventus figures of all time and the club's top goalscorer.

Vieri has had an illustrious career but DP > Bobo without a shadow of a doubt.

Alessandro Del Piero = fenomeno vero

When Vieri moved to Milan, some cheeky stupid Milan fans dared to say that they actually prefer Vieri over Del Piero.

Now, when Vieri proved again that he's a mercenary, I just wonder if you feel the actual difference between the players. Eveyone shall feel proud that Del Piero plays for Juve, because Del Piero is one of a kind.

No, I'm not talking about the fact that Vieri is a mercenary. Lazio, Juve, Inter, Milan, Monaco, Atletico, whatever. That he has no heart and soul, that he doesn't feel the loyalty and the love that Del Piero feels, that he's not an icon like Del Piero.

I'm not talking about that, since that's a given, that's obvious. I want to draw the difference between a player that stays and fights through difficult times and a player who doesn't. Vieri was worried from the battle with Adriano, and he knew why, so he thought he'll have a better chance in Milan. Then Gila came and owned him, so he knew he's fuked up, what with Inzaghi coming back from injury too. So he runs off again. But Del Piero stayed and always fought back whether from injuries or benching, he stays and fight and prove himeslf over again, like a Pheonix he rises from the ashes, from any defeat to new and exciting triumphs.

And while Vieri left to France, Del Piero was just completing his hattrick and becoming the Juventus all Time Legend. That's the stuff that divides true champions than just players... that's what makes Ale so great. He never gives up. And in the end he has the last word. Every time . Amen .

so whats you point ???

Difficult times? Like what? Juve has been a force throughout Del Piero's career and never goes more than two years without winning a serious championship. Where are the tough times? Sure, Del Piero has had some personal tough times, but how would it have helped him to leave Juve?

Vieri is not a mercenary, he's a professional, and it's not entirely his fault that he gets transfered. The fact that he can be successful in so many different places, and does not fear a new challenge speaks more for his character than Del Piero's reliance on Juventus does for his.
:agree:

Like Codino also said, Del Piero's off form on form spells are more to do with the power and monopoly he got at Juventus. Even when he was playing terribly and way below standard he was getting 1st team football no matter what in the Lippi era. He actually got too much support and thats why he is able to become tranquil yet never really found his form.

Only the last 2 years has he become much better and it is because Juve is now becoming tougher on him wiht Capello.

But DP has definately the longer career and was able to have more years on form than Vieri. So I'd still pick DP over Vieri wihtout hesitating.
