When Vieri moved to Milan, some cheeky stupid Milan fans dared to say that they actually prefer Vieri over Del Piero.

Now, when Vieri proved again that he's a mercenary, I just wonder if you feel the actual difference between the players. Eveyone shall feel proud that Del Piero plays for Juve, because Del Piero is one of a kind.

No, I'm not talking about the fact that Vieri is a mercenary. Lazio, Juve, Inter, Milan, Monaco, Atletico, whatever. That he has no heart and soul, that he doesn't feel the loyalty and the love that Del Piero feels, that he's not an icon like Del Piero.

I'm not talking about that, since that's a given, that's obvious. I want to draw the difference between a player that stays and fights through difficult times and a player who doesn't. Vieri was worried from the battle with Adriano, and he knew why, so he thought he'll have a better chance in Milan. Then Gila came and owned him, so he knew he's fuked up, what with Inzaghi coming back from injury too. So he runs off again. But Del Piero stayed and always fought back whether from injuries or benching, he stays and fight and prove himeslf over again, like a Pheonix he rises from the ashes, from any defeat to new and exciting triumphs.

And while Vieri left to France, Del Piero was just completing his hattrick and becoming the Juventus all Time Legend. That's the stuff that divides true champions than just players... that's what makes Ale so great. He never gives up. And in the end he has the last word. Every time . Amen .

Del Piero is legend and i feel proud that i am living to see him. Maybe he hasn't the Ronaldinio's awards but he is the "flag" of JUVENTUS fans and nobody else player in the word is such a "flag" and a leader of his team like Alex does. FORZA ALEX.

Dp's chances are much more than Vieri's chances to the WorldCup.
And he's much more needed actually. I also prefer Inzaghi over Vieri to go as a replacement for Gilardino. Let us hope Capello will play Del Piero more, that way he'll definitely go and might actualyl take a starting spot.

Noooo...not Inzaghi, I saw the guy in Coppa Italia match, Jeeez, my grandma can finish better and control the ball better. We don't need Inzaghi at all.

I've always admired Vieri, and his character.

But why compare him to Del Piero? Both have done great things.
They ran out of comparing players. Next thing you know they'll compare Maldini to Totti.

Difficult times? Like what? Juve has been a force throughout Del Piero's career and never goes more than two years without winning a serious championship. Where are the tough times? Sure, Del Piero has had some personal tough times, but how would it have helped him to leave Juve?

Vieri is not a mercenary, he's a professional, and it's not entirely his fault that he gets transfered. The fact that he can be successful in so many different places, and does not fear a new challenge speaks more for his character than Del Piero's reliance on Juventus does for his.

delpiero over vieri anyday.
but the reason why delpiero 'stays and comes back' is because of the power he has got at juve.

yes, only now cappello is showing a bit of balls, but throuhout his career alex has always been number 1 pick for lippi and juventus. no matter what. Vieri hasnt ever had that luxury. even if he was one of the best strikers at one stage.

if we are talking about overall playing wise, i repeat, Delpiero is way better. But if its for a spot in the world cup team (and hopefully it doesnt come down between these two), id pick vieri.

Del Piero and Vieri, both, are great players who did a lot for their teams and fot the NT. If we do a DP v Vieri, i guess DP win because he plays more than Vieri, and score -a little bit- more. But there's a big difference between DP and Vieri, DP is a icon-symbol, Vieri just Vieri.
