Alessandro Del Piero was this evening treated to another rapturous reception following Sunday’s memorable lap of honour around Juventus Stadium.
The captain, promoting his autobiography ‘Giochiamo ancora’ at the Salone del Libro in Turin, took the opportunity to address his adoring public and thank them in person for their affection shown in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Atalanta.
He began: “To be able to score, win and receive that kind of response from all the Bianconeri fans was wonderful. It was a superb and historic day. I’ve had plenty of thrilling moments, but the emotions I felt yesterday have yet to fully sink in. It was magnificent and I’d like to thank everyone who was there.”
But despite the party atmosphere showing no signs of dying down, Del Piero is already considering the next challenge that lies ahead: Sunday’s Coppa Italia final showdown with Napoli.
“This Scudetto triumph definitely has a certain taste to it for the way in which it’s arrived, especially after all we’ve been through from 2006 onwards.
“But now we’re already thinking about next Sunday because we all regard it as an incredibly important final.”
