He is one of the few players probably deserving of that spot. There are few better right backs than him. This guy is solid defending, and makes plays from his position. I would love for him to come to Juve, but doubt Shakhtar would sell, or sell for a price that Juve would be willing to pay.

I agree with first sentence. Juve's weakest link are probably full backs, and especially right back since Chiellini can cover left back position. Instead of Cassani, i don't see any Italian right back that is good enough for Juve. Also, with Juve as it is now, not on top where he belongs, i doubt that any world class player would sign at this moment.

I don't think Shakhtar would make any problems, cause he gave so much to them, and they got him for like 1 milion euros back then, although he was worth at least couple of milions more.

The only problem could be his willingness to move.

He gets around 4.5 milion euros per year, and tax in Ukraine is only around 15 %, so actually he earns more then Gigi or Alex.
But money isn't a problem. Last year he got an offer from Barcelona to be a backup for Dani Alves, but refused because he wants to play. Playing and making an impact in big league are his goals, not money anymore.

Idk, but the taxrate is round the 50% in Italy so though luck Dario, I red somewhere he gets treated like a king in Ukraine and with such money, I don't would consider Juve as an option at all.

Srna is one of the best attacking fullbacks in the world. Good both defensively and offensively and can play both right back and right midfield, which means he not only solves our RB situation but also offers cover for Krasic. He's great at crossing, has great technique, set pieces and what I really like, he guarantees a couple of free kicks near the box every game(he knows how to fall). He's also 28 and in the prime years of his career and is out of contract this summer, looking for a new challenge and could possibly come cheap.

When you take all that into consideration and look at our RBs, your statement really doesn't hold any water.

The fact you are probably jonesing for a Neymar type of signing is another thing. Our chances of signing him are just wishful thinking as things stand now. So yeah, Srna would be pretty worthy of that precious non-EU spot.

Look I've already said a number of times I don't think we'd have a chance to sign him because he earns great at Shaktar and is a God there. But if he really wants a new challenge, which could be the case, he won't demand crazy wages. The guy is set for life money wise and is looking for a big club experience. If he's in it for the money, he'll stay where he is.

Taking into account you are the one 'jonesing' for Srna and do pretty much every week and the fact you make a lot of incorrect assumptions, I'll just say that I'd rather use the spot on someone other than a 28 year old right back.

These are my 3 last posts about Srna before this thread was opened. In the last two I've said the same thing twice about doubting he's gonna leave for free and that we can stop dreaming about him. The third post is from 2007.

You can scratch Srna off the free list. The guy is like a God there, the fans love him and the owner considers him like a son. He will certainly extend his deal if for nothing else but to make Shaktar some money, though I wouldn't be surprised to see him end his career there.

Would be a Moggi-style coup, were we to get him on a free, though.

Yeah I rate him as does everyone who follows football. And I said "Neymar type of signing", not Neymar per se.

TBH, Srna is precisely the type of player we need. Prime years, NT experience, CL experience, UEFA Cup winner, wouldn't cost much and would make an immediate impact. I'd also love us to sign a guy like Neymar who can become our Pato but the time for that is not now. We need players that can deliver immediately.

I'd take Srna in a heartbeat without the non-EU situation, my only issue is that as we only get one per season it should go to someone who could help us out longer term, even if we clearly do need a good fullback.

If Srna is a free agent this summer, and we are actually interested in him, but we are cautious about the Non-EU rule and are wondering if he`s the right player to take that only spot, cant we just negotiate a deal with Siena, Livorno, Idontcarewho to sign him on free and then immediately to transfer him to Juve, for a reasonable price (or maybe a player going the other direction)?! Something like the Mutu deal with Livorno, in that scenario we can have Srna and still sign a Non-EU player...
