Description:
Danilo began his rise through the youth ranks of Vasco da Gama. He was part of the Brazilian under-15 squad which won the South American Championship in 2011. Despite being only 17, he was also a member of the winning Brazil U-20 squad during prestigious Toulon Tournament 2013. Young midfielder impressed enough in his appearances from the bench that he was given a start in the final against Columbia and furthermore picked up the “Plus jeune finaliste” – award for the youngest finalist. At FIFA U-17 World Cup 2013 he was a true leader of “Canarinhos” team, but despite a good start, Brazilians were eliminated unexpectedly already in the quarter-finals. There were few giants that already showed interest in player, including Liverpool and AC Milan, but it seems to be too early for him to move to Europe. First above all, he has to make his senior debut and win a place in Vasco da Gama first team.
Quotes:
“Contribution of Danilo was decisive, 17 years old, Vasco da Gama midfielder: pressure, strength in the tackle, vision, long passes. He is the classic number 5 who works in front of the defense, ensuring the substance and balance.”
