I've never seen Rugani as a bad defender. He might not be world-class, but he’s always been calm on the ball, reliable, and rarely error-prone. Maybe if he'd joined a team like Lazio or Fiorentina instead of spending years behind Juve’s backline, his career would’ve taken a different turn. In my opinion, aside from all the media hype, De Ligt didn’t really offer anything more than Rugani defensively. Still, Italian defenders often come into their own after 30, just look at Barzagli, who only really shined later on. I really hope he stays and finally gets the trust he deserves. Honestly, he’s way more dependable than guys like Kelly.
He was sent to Rennes for 1 year and barely played there, then he was loaned to Cagliari for a year. Nothing is wrong about him the fact is he has never been good enough to be a starter even at mid-level clubs in inferior leagues. I take him for the bench because he always accepts being in the rotation system and bench role plus the salary is on point for a bench player.

But doesnt have the pace to follow along faster players. And you need the pace to keep a high backline. And you need a high backline to keep a high pressure. And you need a high pressure to keep the possession. And you need the possession to control the match. Kelly has pace. Rugani dont. End of story.
I'm taking Rugani in a wheelchair over Kelly.

End of story.
