The CB we really need, only defender in the game that was groomed since an early age by the BBC and just like them he is probably playing his best football when approaching his 30’s.

I’m ofc joking a bit about it, but truth is he wouldn’t have been a bad option to have around this season.

Always said that he is a potentially great defender and that he'd likely really come into his best form in his 30s. He's never been a proper starter here so struggled to get some form together.

We def should have kept him around. Homegrown and that as well is he not?

I would pick him as a bench option but remember he rode on the bench for a whole season at Rennes(mid level club in an inferior league). Don't know how he's been since joining Ajax.

Can't see what's wrong with it. Was such a weird decision to send him way.
Personally I'd have kept him to be cautious, but I can see why he was loaned. We had Bremer, Kalulu and Gatti, who are established central defenders. We had Cabal who is essentially a DLC. And Danilo as a 5th option if needed. Bremer and Cabal injuries later and we need someone. Selling Danilo just adds to depth problems.

I wonder what the terms of the loan even are, some you can't interrupt if it's pre-agreed. I'd definitely bring him back if it is an option, he needs no integration and doesn't complain.

I believe he was pushed out because Motta’s philosophy is for no players to accept bench roles. They train to fight for starting shirts. Ru-ru is a well known satisfied back-up which is why he was cast aside as opposed to the fact we started the season with a few options at the back.

It’s also likely the reason for random rotations and the captain band tossed around to whoever Motta thinks deserves it that week.

It’s a strange way of operating and doesn’t seem to have bore fruit here and has likely backfired if anything.
