Why are we obsessed with this guy?

I've no idea. Haven't heard one good thing about him.

Edit:

Ok after a quick Google... Is a left footed center back that's played at LB and even as left wing back for Fiorentina.

Teams Liverpool and Athletico Madrid have been showing interest in him recently.

He played for Fiorentina. Of course, who else would he have played for.

I can see why Motta would want him, he's a bit like a Calafiori substitute - left footed (I like this balance in a pair), aids with the build up phase and gets into attacking positions for a central defender. At 27 he should be in his prime. I'm not too concerned that he didn't make it at Fiorentina at 21-23 or whatever, that happens and players can improve and come back. Obviously there is a risk with Eredivisie players. I'm also concerned about how much we'd pay for him, we seem to have gone back to the Paratici era of paying top dollar for everyone.

remember bruno fernandes at udinese and samp? how was he?

not saying that hancko is on the same path but judging someone based on half a season when he was 20 is pointless. look at huijsen, shaky for roma, very decent half a year later

If he was English, his name would be David Hancock.
I like reading up on these surnames for players we sign as I'm sad and interested in etymology, turns out that's exactly right, rather than false cognates.

Slovak; Polish (also Hańko): from a pet form of the personal name Ján (Slovak) or Jan (Polish), from Latin Johannes (see John).
Hancock is an English surname. It is derived from a given name, a variant of John (Johan) combined with the hypocoristic suffix -cok which came into fashion in the 13th century, from cok "cock", applied to "a young lad who strutted proudly like a cock".

He will be Gatti's replacement, a better player, technicaly, tactically, physically is comparable, and has brain. The 25m next year will be paid by selling Gatti (his value is 25m by transfermarkt). Hopefully we can sell Gatti this winter mercato if we find suitors, and get Hancko on loan for this 6 months (+ loan Veiga and/or Todibo as backup). Tactically, Gatti is the most unsuitable player with Motta ideas and Hancko only 6 months older than Gatti(not that old) and he can played as left back too, left footed

If not, we probably will sell Gatti in the summer, but I prefer Hancko more than Gatti if Giuntoli can pull this out this winter mercato (I can see it will improve our push for UCL and Serie A position). Hancko salary currently around 2.35m gross with Gatti get around 2,6m gross per year. Getting Hancko for 2.5 per year +maybe 500k bonus gross if we qualify UCL is still make sense, instead of extending Gatti's contract

If I am Giuntoli, I will tell to Feyenord DS, what do you think about Rugani in Ajax he is impressive right, here take Gatti + Facundo Gonzales and give Hancko for us this winter mercato. He will be impressive with his body and he can build strong brick wall infront of your goal to make sure no goals allowed

Undoubtedly one of the dumbest things we could do this mercato is selling one of the (only) two reliable / available CBs we have.

Bench him if you like when there's new blood but do not sell him.

I dont see any problem with that, we already loan Veiga, get Alberto Costa, and we have McKennie. This is really easy to fix, we can always recall Rugani as a last resort. With Alberto Costa addition, I think we will move Savona to CB, and probably we have a ready subs from next gen for RB position
