One thing I've come to realize about Ronaldo, and it's a little sad. Growing up as the poor kid in his Madeira neighborhood, money still seems of utmost importance to him for how he values himself. Or at least as much as the trophies and the individual awards.

That his trade dealings as he's aged have continued to follow the highest bidder, even if he has more money than God now, seems to suggest money is highly tied to his self-worth.

Which means no chance in hell he's going anywhere that isn't going to pay him stupid money (certainly not a return to Sporting CP, where he could have continued to pursue CL scoring records).

He’s not wrong for maximizing earning potential while he can. One day he won’t be able to command anything outside of perhaps a tv analyst or coaching role. Perhaps he won’t need to…
Not wrong. But as fans we like to see the sport as something more than just a retirement fund for his kids.

Meh, recency bias doesnt last. It'll be a dumb debate forever. I dont know how you can compare two players that dont play the same position/role. I also dont know how you can use team trophies to judge individuals.
