yeah, but this time we're going crazy with an investment that will have it's toll on us for years to come, it's a rich mans Higuain scenario :D

- - - Updated - - -

you obviously didn't read the post I was responding to. post was "Pogba and Kante are scrubs, Ronaldo is a goat " or something like that. my point wasn't that Ronaldo will decline similarly to Ronaldinho, my point was being a GOAT doesn't guarantee anything going forward, Ronaldo at Juve doesn't get a handicap for past achievements
What you don't seem to get is, who we are actually getting.

There is only one player in the planet that can compete with this season, and that's Messi. ANYONE else we would sign instead of Cristiano would be a foolish downgrade. Positional need goes out the window when the quality difference is this vast. And as someone who has personally witnessed us lose 5 CL finals, trust me , this signing is NECESSARY.

You recall when Antonio Di Natale said no to us? No? Well I do. Talk about coming a king way in such a short time.

Our biggiest rival are signing Zaza while we are about to do biggiest signing in Italian football history.

and costs 3 times more than any mid in the world and has no resale value. btw I disagree, I don't think Ronaldo's impact on pitch will be that big with Juve's playing style, what type of chances will we feed him? it's not like Higuain or Dybala are crappy finishers, how much wondergoals and added-clinicality-goals do you expect Ronaldo to score?
Who gives a damn about resale value?

Tell me who else you want to sign over the best player in the sport right now.

And for the love of God, if you say Kante I will slap you silly :D

I do recall, I thought Del Piero-Di Natale would've been a sweet partnership :D

I respectfully disagree with the bolded, Ronaldo is a clinical CF, but he won't dominate midfield all by himself

I give a damn about resale value, the market is exploding in unprecedented ways, investing all of it in older players with no resale value is unsustainable in these conditions. I would go for Kante and Pogba rather than for Ronaldo and I'd happily play Dybala upfront, in the end would be cheaper than Ronaldo too. Kante-Pjanic-Pogba makes me fap way more than Ronaldo, that's just the way I see footie, very hard to win CL with a midfield like our current one

who cares, he scores almost as many goals in cl than our complete team. he's an insane scoring machine, who's more effective than our two best strikers combined. you don't say no to that if you can afford it. i get that you think we are still missing a beast midfielder, and i tend to agree, but even if we bought pogba/sms, that wouldn't compensate a declining higgy and a brilliant, still fairly inconsistent dybala.

People are finding ways to complain about this

I'd look at this as a separate "market oppurtunity" I also have been thinking lately
I don't think Juve have a budget per se
I think it's more oh this player might be available, can we justify price and wages? Yes/no

Doesn't mean we have unlimited money but I don't think we say here is 50ml to spend, that's all we get

everybody has team mates, wow, i get it. still, it's ronaldo (and messi) who are the only players consistently scoring over 40 (or even 50) goals per seasons.

pogba and kante as a pair are unavailable, and even if they were on the market, they would cost you a pretty similar fortune over 4 years than ronaldo (150+70 transfer fee, 13+7 yearly salary, that's ~95m per season), and have considerably less impact on club image.

you just simply don't say no on signing ronaldo in case you can afford it.

I actually can't believe anyone would even complain about this.

Whatever the cost, I'm certain EXOR/Fiat will have a contribution towards it hence why I don't think money should be an issue at all, so what is there not to like about this deal? we're trying to enhance our brand off the pitch and what better 'ambassador' than Ronaldo? on top of what he will do on the pitch, I seriously think if it happens we are going to be CL favourite assuming we don't lose too much in terms of asset sales

In football Italia they are talking about Exor stepping and through sponsorship, they can partly fund his wages.

However, I believe the following. IF Ronaldo comes, one of Higuain or Dybala will leave. My preference and most likely that will be Higuain. Also I believe that Rugani and Sandro will leave. When you think about it though, the best formation would be one where Higuain is basically on the bench and Rugani is not a starter and we already picked up Caldara. Sandro is effectively the only starter that would need to be sacrificed

Lets quickly look at some numbers in the above scenario. 100m transfer fee and 30m net 4 year contract. That equates to an annual gross cost of EU85mpa.

Now.

Higuain. If Higuain is sold for 60m, we book a small gain of 6m but save annual cost of 15m (gross wages) + 18m (annual contract amortization) = 39m

Sandro. If Sandro sold for 60m, we book a gain of 45m and save annual cost of 6m (gross wages) + 5m in amortization = 56m

Rugani. If Rugani is sold for 40m (rumored), we book a gain of 35m and save annual cost of 3m = 38m.

In the first year the net effect = +48m to the P&L.
In the second year the net effect = -38m

Given annual revenue is 450-500m, I think this works. Of course, I have made NO assumption on increased revenue that comes from Ronaldo.

So financially totally doable and you get RONALDO and lose Higuain (no longer a starter), Sandro (A starter but had a questionable season), and Rugani (non-starter replaced by Caldara).
