Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli refuses to be drawn into a row with Sassuolo over Domenico Berardi and denies Moise Kean has been dropped over disciplinary issues.

Before their 2-0 home defeat to Atalanta this evening, Sassuolo director of sport Giovanni Carnevali claimed that they had an agreement with Juventus over Berardi, setting a deadline that has now passed.

They are therefore unwilling to reopen negotiations for the captain, who missed the match because he is trying to force an exit.

“We do not comment on how other clubs operate, we just say that we are talking every day to the coach to understand if, considering we are only in one tournament, it is best to loan out our lads to give them more playing time,” Giuntoli told DAZN.

“Juventus must be on their toes to look out for every opportunity, if it is compatible with our economic conditions.”

So was it true that Sassuolo had set a deadline of August 17 to get the Berardi deal done or give him up?

“I repeat, I do not comment on how other clubs do things.”

Moise Kean is not part of the squad travelling to Udine this evening, officially due to a knock to the shin, but there have also been reports he is on the market or even facing disciplinary action for turning up late.

“No, Kean is part of our group of five strikers and we are very happy to have him in the squad.”

Fulham and Sevilla are thought to be interested in Kean, on loan with option to buy for €20m.

Giuntoli was also asked if the swap deal between Dusan Vlahovic and Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku was still possible.

“We rely on our own strikers.”

first quote is the perfect way to treat carnevali. he deserves jack shit

let's hope he means the 2nd quote. signing lukaku would be the transfer i'd hate the most in recent years, completely out of sync with how the club should operate recently

Giuntoli Deal #6
  • Player: Luca Pellegrini
  • Type: loan with obligation to buy
  • To: Lazio
  • Detail: two year free loan till 30 June 2025. Agreement entails the obligation for Lazio to definitely acquire the player's registration rights upon achievement of certain sporting objectives. 4m acquisition fee, payable in three years.
  • Note: Juventus will pay 50% or 60% of his salary during his loan spell according to several reports.
Grade: D-
Comment:
The aftermath of Tici-economy is lingering. His 3.3m wage makes us almost impossible to find a decent buyer. This and the Rovella deal make one feel that we are sucking Lotito's dick.
why is it a d-? did pellegrini have other offers? did he impressed anyone for more than a few seconds? he's a mediocre player who is only at juve because of paratici's obsession with plusvalenza. he's practically unsellable. if we can get rid of him, even with a slight minusvalenza, that's automatically a positive deal in my book :boh:

agree with all you said. I'm just not very happy about the salary part, nor the amount of the buyout fee. I was expecting that we sell him for more than that number.
And his and Rovella's deal look like a bundle sale in which we got lowballed by Lazio. Since I gave the latter one an F, the other one can't be better than a D- lul.

Btw, the grade is more emotional than logical. :drum:

I am well aware things have not been easy financially but at this stage the team feels weaker and even less balanced than last year on paper, with the same underwhelming coach pushing the same square pegs in round holes on top of it… feels like we are solely focused on downsizing and downgrading and not so much in actually improving the overall quality and necessities of the squad.

Giving chances to talented youngsters is a good way forward ofc but not an ideal solution when supposedly aiming for the top spots because most of them have good potential but are still too raw and inconsistent to regularly rely on.

You can give an updated assessment of the deals come winter. By then we should have saved up enough funds to also finally acquire Kulaku and Rarbedi
