Originals always stand out,but some covers have been pretty good. Some have been utter shit.So lets have it..which covers do you hate?

Post a video link of the original and the cover here. And tell us why you hate the cover.

Id start off with Fugee's cover of Killing Me Softly.I know a lot of people love their version, but man..they should be fucking JAILED for ruining Roberta Flack's gem.
The first 30 odd seconds of The Fugee's version is bearable, but when the rap/hip hop shit moves in...MAN..i feel like stuffing knives into my ears! They took a brilliant song, undressed it,raped it,and then ran off with its clothes.Tsk Tsk.Its supposed to be a sweet soothing song, not some piece of Rap-or-whatever-the-heck-you-call-this-blasphemous-version's-genre shit.

Here's the original :

Here's the *cough cough* cover :

Excuse me as i throw up.

You're crazy, the Fugee's version stands on its own. I didn't even know it was a cover song but now that I listen to the original I think the Fugee's version is 10x better.

I like the Fugees' version too...

Anyhow, here's some bad covers I can think of:

Black Eyed Peas - Pump It

Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb

DJ Tiesto - Adagio For Strings

The White Stripes - Jolene

The White Stripes - Conquest

And most covers by punk bands...

I thought the White Stripes version of Jolene was great.I agree about the cover of Comfortably Numb. That was hurrendous.

    Sure.

Rufus Wainwright's cover of Across The Universe. Its been covered by tons of artists, but i love this particular version.Rufus's dull voice goes brillianty with it IMO.

Then there is Orgy's cover of New Order's Blue Monday.

    New Order:

I like it cause it stayed true to the original. Though it is a bit harder.:D

    Thats a neat cover:D

Thats my basic problem with covers by Tori Amos. She's a good singer, but her covers change the song alltogether. Its like she's doing a new song. She deserves credit for innovation, but ive never liked her covers.

Fugees' cover of killing me softly is excellent IMO. It stands on its own, the original is something completely else.

I can't think of any covers to mention right now, I'll get to it tommorow. :p
