I watched the match yesterday and extended highlights today. The result masks all the bad things we did yesterday.
Ok, we did one thing very well. Pirlo was smart enough to copy Sarri and block Brozovic out of the game. Kulusevski, like Bernardeschi under Sarri last season in Milano, was given one main task - to keep Brozovic out of the game - and he did that perfectly. Facing a Lukaku-less and Hakimi-less Inter, it was super important to take Brozovic out.
But everything else was reallyyyyy bad. We created a single chance, a shot by Bernardeschi, and we were unable (not just unwilling) to do more than that. In defense we were terrible. Folks will remember those blocks and clearings by our CB pair, but the fact is we made tons of defensive errors and blunders, gifting Inter chances this way. Everything from positioning, ball control, passing, openings in attack, was done extremely badly. In fact, this was easily one of the worst 5 matches we played this season, but it will not be considered as such, since we beat our main rivals in Milano. The result is what counts, of course, but tons of work to be done.

@PhRoZeN This above is what I was seeing, and why I was bewildered by and disagreed with your post. Its allways lovely to beat your main rival, and we did try sit back a bit and protect result, which is a welcome change for the naive Pirlo style. But damn was there alot to critique in this game, thank god the result wasnt one of them atleast.

I think we could definitely create more but we made the wrong choice every time such as Kulu opting to dribble instead of passing the ball.
The only reason I support it despite of it? I remember players at the beginning of their careers trying to take things on themselves rather than do the simple things.

One great example is C.Ronaldo - I remember Ronaldo making useless dribbles when he first arrived at Man Utd. He succeeded in getting past his man at times but he also lost the ball in other occasions. Ronaldo then realized how to do it better and became a monster.

Kulu will never be Ronaldo but he is a great player that definitely has dribbling skills and curlers. He still needs to work on his decisions which will automatically happen with experience.
The other thing he must work on is his shooting skills - Sometimes curlers are nice but sometimes you need to shoot with power.

As for this Juve can and must do much better - I definitely agree! We do have a few things that we need to change in our team:
1. We need to escape pressure more easily which also relates to bad passes in dangerous areas.
2. We need to be more concrete when getting to opposition end.
3. Our midfielders need to provide better passes to create opportunities - This might happen when we get a WC midfielder.
4. Our attackers needs to be more present in the opponents box - Ronaldo drifts wide and then we either have Kulu who is good but he is more of an AM/SS than a box striker, and there is Morata who is good but I wouldnt call him clinical. In other words we need a goal scoring CF (We had one but I doubt he could compete in our current pressure game - Higuain)

Our job for this season should be the first two
Our job for this summer should be the last two - It will be tough to manage both though..

Coppa Italia is in the final stages so we have to play a strong team as the cup is so near. We can't let up in the league because we're behind, a draw with Roma at the beginning of the season was fine but now we need the win. CL knockout coming up so we need a healthy squad and a run of good performances. Performance at Inter might have been poor but the result was the important thing and I like that we can win ugly against better opposition. All things considered, I'm happy where we are as a team.

Its the bold bit that i was impressed about. Nothings been more frustating than leaving huge gaps at the back and mindless pressing, for me that positive goes above all others. Mistakes yes we made a quite a few, but in hindsight so did they, yet we capitalised. Like i said before, we started with Buffon, Alex Sandro, De Ligt and Demiral all at the back against a strong Inter minus Lukaku and Hakimi. Its natural to expect mistakes from these guys when we rotate so frequently and most of them havent played a game in a while, having come back from injuries and what not. I've been on this forum long enough for those who know, i dont get pleased easily. I've actually seen way too many mediocre performances and mistakes all season that i wouldnt just single out this game for the worst. However seeing a positive for once is worth being pleased about.

Ronaldo missed a penalty at 1:1 against Atalanta, and that's how that game ended. Score that penalty and not concede the goal vs Lazio in the last seconds, and we'd have been in a much better position right now (3 pts behind Milan and a game in hand), despite the failures against Fiorentina, Crotone or Benevento.

I agree. We had tons of these kind of matches when Allegri was the manager.

I liked the first half when we were more in control. Second half we defended and aimed for the counter, as we also did against Barcelona for example. It isn’t helping us, mostly causing troubles and it becomes difficult to create for us.

If I have to pick a few encouraging things it will be that our organization was solid. Inter only created when we made mistakes, not because they were such a attacking thread. And we managed to get a win away from home while resting some important players.

This weeks are all about winning and building momentum, the last 2 games of these 5 are probably the most difficult ones (away vs Napoli and Porto).

Sounds a bit lame to say this, but it’s really a marathon and not a sprint. I’d be very happy with a ugly win against Roma and a boring draw against Inter in the next games, meanwhile rotating when needed. Good management is needed

As I said ,Benevento,Verona and Crotone costs us 8 points.Yes you are right about Atalanta ,I forgot that failure but Atalanta is a super team to the named midgets that we lose points.Fiorentina game was a DISASTER!
