Buffon
Grygera Chiellini Cannavaro Grosso
Melo Sissoko
Candreva Diego Iago
Amauri
Why not?
Quite frankly, that's the same question I've been asking myself. The only difference between this and the 4-4-1-1 player-wise is Iago over DC, which is an experiment which can't hurt given our injury crisis.

We will need Momo and Melo to play the game of their lives though.

Anybody feel like tonight's going to be like leading lambs to be slaughtered by a bunch of lions, Godzilla, the Neville brothers, an extremely pissed off Christian Bale and the Honey Monster?

I like everything but Amauri. It's time to give someone else a shot.
Ciro says why. Seriously after last week fuck Grosso. That greasy scumbag would not don the shirt again.
Who else would you put there? Sali I suppose cuz DC will get eaten alive today.

De Ceglie either way Grosso will get eaten alive because he's to slow. He sucks going forward and sucks at the back. Might aswell throw De Ceglie in at least he is effective going forward.

That's for sure. It has been a looooonnnnggggg time since we have seen them play together I feel. It's time for Melo to step his game up and start protecting our backline and goalie. Same goes for Sissoko in job responsibility.

The only thing that worries me is their passing :scared:

Well, like you two were saying about Melo/Sissoko if they are playing well then they should be able to cover well...but really with Maicon owning the right side of the field...he is going to have a blast today with anyone we put at LB

Melo's passing can be rather good. Lets just hope for a good game.

Their passing is always quite the problem, though Melo can be a decent passer. I simply don't understand where these brainfarts keep coming from.

Thing is though, those 2 will have alot more options to play the ball forward, since there's players next to Diego. So I guess they should be able to do their job and instantly giving the ball to a player in the '3'. When there's a 3 man midfield they have to do more of the thinking creativity wise, because they constantly have to find Diego, who's all by himself.

This formation might be a bit more daring, but at the same time more suitable for our players available if you ask me.

With that 4-4-1-1 Inter will just take Diego out of the game and we all know how much Amauri offers when it comes to creativity.. We'll be stuck in a midfield where people like De Ceglie and Sissoko have to come up with ideas.

It might be the most solid one when it comes to defending, but we won't even get near their goal.

Well that's the beauty of a 4231...if either Melo or Sissoko get the ball deep they have 3 very capable creative players where any one of them can drop back to receive a nice easy pass to begin an attack...there should never be a reason why either Melo/Momo should be bringing the ball up out of the back.

Yup. I think it's definitely the most suitable formation for when Melo and Momo are fit to play. They can both focus on what they're good at and our attacks won't suffer from their limited 'registra skills'. I can understand Ciro hesitates playing it because Camo and Gio are both out, but ( and Jack will love me for this one ) Candreva can play as a winger, he even said so himself. ;)

And how much worse than De Ceglie can Iago be on that left spot? He took care of business in that pre-season game.

It's called faith...something our club is very shy about showing toward youth.

Unfortunately so. When all of us think it's time for some youngsters to take the spotlight, our lovely club just adapt formation to be able to field a player like Brazzo when he's just coming back from an injury.

That's how it is unfortunately, and we'll have to live with the fact there is no way we'll see the formation with any youngsters in it, even if only 1 is needed in Iago for the left spot.
