Proceedings for the 65th edition of the Coppa Italia got underway this morning with the official draw in Milan.
Juventus, who finished runners-up in last year’s competition, will begin their journey at the last–sixteen stage, to be contested on 12 December 2012.
This could potentially set up a mouth-watering quarter-final clash with Milan on 9 January 2013, should both teams progress through to the next round.
The domestic cup competition will get underway on Sunday 5 August. Seven days later, the second round will be played on 12 August. The third stage, scheduled for 18 August, will see several Serie A teams enter the competition. Palermo, Genoa, Bologna, Atalanta, Fiorentina have been drawn on one side, with Siena, Torino, Catania, Chievo, Cagliari and Pescara taking their places on the other. Juventus will know their last-sixteen opponents upon the conclusion of the fourth round on 28 November.
Semi-final fixtures are due to be played on 23 and 30 January 2013, while the final, again to be held at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, has been pencilled in for Sunday 26 May. A reserve date of Saturday 1 June has also been established.
