Antonio Conte has outlined his determination to boost the Bianconeri’s title challenge with three points against Roma on Sunday evening. Despite struggling with inconsistency, particularly away from home, the manager remains fully aware of the threat posed by the Giallorossi.
Speaking from an afternoon press conference, the 42-year-old began: “It will be a tough game. We know we’re up against a team in good condition, a side that can cause anyone problems on their day. Having said that, we’re prepared and ready to take to the field aware that we’re in good form.”
Conte then moved on to praise the work done by his counterpart Luis Enrique. Both coaches champion an expansive, attacking style of play and began this season looking to breathe new life into their respective environments.
“I don’t think that Luis Enrique was ever in danger of being dismissed, because the club has always offered him support. This is to his credit, he’s imposed his way of playing on the club, the players and the environment. I’ve got great respect for him.”
A thought was then reserved for the tragic events of last weekend.
“It was a tragedy that shocked everyone. The hope is that similar tragedies don’t happen again, especially at that age. We’re saddened and send our condolences to Piermario’s family.”
Conte concluded by issuing a rallying cry ahead of his team’s final run-in. The Bianconeri currently sit one point ahead of defending champions Milan and will require a flawless end to the season in order to lift the ultimate prize.
“Going into the final stage of the season with the chance of fulfilling a dream and a Coppa Italia final to play is something that gives us satisfaction. We’ll give our all right until the end and we’ll be happy if this enables us to win the championship.”
