Antonio Conte expressed his satisfaction with Juventus’ five-goal rout at the Artemio Franchi this evening. The 42-year-old believes that the Bianconeri responded well to a difficult test against determined opposition.

He began: “It seemed that it wasn’t going to be our day again when Vucinic hit the post at the start of the game. They had the desire - as did their fans - to throw a spanner in the works, but the lads did well. It wasn’t easy because it’s been a while since we’ve won, while Milan are motoring along like a train... Instead, we displayed our personality and desire to win. And this is a sign of great maturity.”

The commanding win was the team’s highest scoring result of the season so far: “We’ve always played a great brand of football this year, even if it’s inevitable that the performance is associated with the result and judgements therefore change. Of course, we haven’t won in a while but that’s not due to poor performances. A deflected ball sometimes goes into the net, sometimes it goes behind. And this year ours have often ended up behind.”

The victory keeps up the pressure on leaders Milan as Serie A enters its final sprint: “We’re proud to find ourselves ten games from the end and in the position to fight and keep the championship alive. We’ll continue to do our maximum so we have no regrets at the end. We know that we have a strong and structured opponent ahead of us, but we want to continue to dream.”
