Antonio Conte dedicated this afternoon’s 3-0 victory over Atalanta to the memory of Alessio Ferramosca and Riccardo Neri, two Bianconeri youngsters who tragically lost their lives six year ago.
Speaking after the final whistle, Conte said: “I was emotional when I saw the banner for Alessio and Riccardo. They’ll always remain in our hearts and we’re close to their families.
“I have to be honest, I didn’t see the choreography for me, I was a bit late out of the tunnel, but I know the extent of the extraordinary affection shown towards myself and the players by the fans. We look to repay them every time we take to the field and today we were able to do so.”
Focusing on the positives from today’s game, the 43-year-old added: “Atalanta are a team who know how to overcome the big sides, and have shown just that by beating Milan, Napoli and Inter. We faced the encounter with the right approach. We played with the hunger and motivation that we should never be without.”
When asked for an overall assessment of the season so far, Conte commented: “We’re doing very well, we’ve already got the points we had at this stage last year and now we’ll look to do well in the two games remaining in the first half of this season.
“There’s still a long way to go, we want to keep playing a key part in the championship, Coppa Italia and Champions League. The only way to do so is to keep working hard.”
