Referee Pierluigi Collina has announced that he will officiate for another year before finally retiring. The Italian had called it a day at the end of last season, but will now blow the whistle in Serie A next season. An appearance at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, however, is not on the cards.

Collina, 45, made his about-turn after the Italian football federation (FIGC) increased the compulsory retirement age for referees from 45 to 46.

I honestly don't put it past someone giving him bionic eyes, legs, etc., to the point where he's 50% titanium and silicon -- and the average age of his "components" drops to a palatable 22 years old where he can ref CL and int'l matches again.

Robo-ref is coming...

Offcourse. But I thought that it was a dumb rule, when he had to retire at the age of 45. And when he still was as good as always....

for being a good referee he didn't earn enough.
so he decided to officiate another year.
Expect a 3 penalty calls and 4 disallowed legal goals in one match from Collina next season. ;)
And, I bet it'll be against us
