Coldplay Being sued by Joe Satriani for plagiarism.

As previously reported on MusicRadar, Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay, claiming the UK band's Grammy-nominated song Viva La Vida uses one of his melodies.

In court papers filed on 4 December 2008, Satriani's legal team alleges Viva La Vida, the title track of Coldplay's current album, copies "substantial original portions" of his song If I Could Fly.

Satriani's song was included on his 2004 album Is There Love In Space?

There's a similarity in the melody but don't believe it was intentional. Such similarities can by found in a hundreds of songs.

Anyone with remotely any musical taste at all would appreciate Coldplay's music, not them but their music. I think they are one of the few bands nowadays that posess any kind of musical sense at all.

Same, most of the music I listen to is the who, the beatles, pink floyd, dire straits. But perhaps the only modern rock band that resemble anything remotely melodically appealing are coldplay. The rest are all trash.
