Something i plan to do in my lifetime is a Coast To Coast driving trip of the US....Rent a Mustang and just drive the open road for a few weeks. Like in a 1960s/1970s film. Iv got to thinking recently....what would be my playlist/soundtrack for the drive and what you guys would suggest....heres whats iv got so far.

Any suggestions welcome.....(i also want to get some more music from the 60s/70s that anyone wants to suggest)

Boz, he's looking for songs from the 60's and 70's.

I understand that is 30 years before your time, but please try harder

Born to be wild - steppenwolf
    fortunate son - CCR
Freebird and sweet home Alabama - if you don't know who those songs are by your not welcome in America
Star spangled banner on guitar - Jimi hendrix
If im putting skynryd on the list its gonna be 'That Smell', 'Needle and Spoon' or 'Simple Man'. I may have 2 steppenwolf songs on the list....not a fan of hendrix's performance of that. And i will look up that CCR song, but their imo is Lookin' Out My Backdoor or Bad Moon.

Tell you what. I'll let you borrow my 2005 Mustang convertible for the trip.

    All right Now- Free

    Tumbling Dice- Rolling Stones

    Hurricane- Bob Dylan
Have you heard Wishing Well by Free? Better song imo, iv never listening to grateful dead, will youtube that song in a min. Also thinking about 'Can't You Heard Me Knocking' by the stones, or do you recon tumbling dice is better?

250 mile high city-Ocean Colour Scene

    love spreads-The Stone Roses

go with the flow-Queens of the Stone Age

lets build a home-The White Stripes
I was thinking about some QUOTSA but was more leaning towards A Song For The Dead, sick driving song. Im not a fan of stone roses and i dont think The White Stripes will hit the tone of the trip.

David Hasselhoff - Jump in my car
    NEIN, I prefer the original.

Wishing well is from the 80's I think.

I would prefer "Tumbling Dice", if only for the chorus, plus with the top down, more people recognize that song

Some good stuff. But I would totally punk this stuff up a little...

Here's a few home-grown products, often overlooked, I would definitely consider for my equivalent list:

    The Ramones - "California Sun"

    Cheap Trick - "California Man"

    (for out West ;) )

The Cars - "Just What I Needed"

The Dictators - "Faster and Louder"

Van Halen - "Runnin' With the Devil" (this one goes out to Sergio :D)

The Suicide Commandos - "Attacking the Beat"

Ted Nugent - "Cat Scratch Fever"

Aerosmith - "Back In The Saddle"

    Kiss - "Detroit Rock City"

ZZ Top - "Heard It On the X" and "Jesus Just Left Chicago"

    Montrose - "Rock Candy"

Blue Oyster Cult - "Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll"

Alice Cooper - "Under My Wheels"

Mountain - "Mississippi Queen" (definitely see the 1971 movie Vanishing Point before you go)

    The Doors - "Backdoor Man"

Jimi Hendrix - "Love or Confusion"

Velvet Underground - "I'm Waiting for the Man"

Iggy & the Stooges - "Gimme Danger" and "Search and Destroy"

Bob Dylan - "Obviously 5 Believers"
