    I am not an American, but let me tell you, there are lots of people in there who know about football as much as we do. On college campuses you will see all kinds of Juve, MU and Real Madrid jerseys (mainly on international students though) :)

    These rankings are compiled together by CNN International (based in London) and World Soccer magazine (which I am subscribed to and I find it very informative).

    Barca was dropped I think because of performance in UEFA cup.

    :) Good one. You know, when FIFA selects its Player of the Year (when national head coaches only vote and Ronaldo types always win) I get a feeling that it is not coaches, but interns voting.

    For CNN World Soccer I think they have a board of "experts" from both editions who do it.

    Does anyone know of any other football club rankings out there?

    Believe me, most sportscasters in America shrivel in bewilderment and fear when you mention world club soccer. Then they get all huffy and defensive by dismissing the sport in order to cover for their ignorance.

    Not to exhume an old thread (but I will anyway), that's probably rooted in the fact that, in Spain, the whole is far less than the sum of its parts. Just like the concept of a "Spanish identity". Club play is far bigger than nationals due to its intense regionalism.

    Just ask someone from Barcelona how they feel about having to catch an international flight through Madrid. :boxing:
