and also the gap between porto and the top teams are nearly not as big as the gap between leicester and the pl top dogs. that 5000/1 odds tells it all. what mourinho achieved was impressive. what ranieri & leicester just did is simply impossible, and probably will never happen again in a lifetime.
Yeah, this is never happening again probably.
Nothing comes close to this title winning run in the history of the sport. Maybe Greece at Euro 04, but I wouldn't even call that a close second, for the simple reason that it didn't involve as much sustainability and staying power over a 9 month period which wasn't a knock out competition. This is across sports, one of the greatest if not the greatest ever.
yeh, i was one of the most fiersome Ranieri critics in his time at Juve and got some infractions for that, but i think everyone can see that what he did wih Leicester is nothing short of miraculous and impossible.Even on a weak league, could you imagine a team like hellas verona or Pescara winning the Serie A? madness.
My theory is that he is too nice of a man to be dealing with the everyday task of managing egos and stupid owners of teams, which ultimately lead to failure. Also it seems that technical coaching is not his forte. He is more of a man manager than a coach.
In this Leicester team, he found a lot of humble guys who came from below, and who wanted to have a nice time and work as family. It seems that Ranieri came in the right moment to channel all those players into a single objective.
Im pretty sure that what won Leicester this league, was how Ranieri motivated those "average" guys to victory.Ill admit that some of those players are in fact really good, but IMO the credit is shared by coach and players because this achievement was the epitome of teamwork.
IMO, this achievement is more legendary than both of Mou´s CL cups, as in both teams, MOu had quality players to use...but Ranieri had a lot of nobodies in a league full of heavy spenders.
