You're right. It is Del Piero that's been taking Giovinco's place and since Del Piero was our best player by far during our winning streak, it's not a surprise Giovinco didn't see much playing time.
Giovinco is not a winger. He's a forward, a support striker. It should be clear to everyone.
so either change our formation to allow him PT or just wait until DP can no longer run? With DPs form I do not see much PT for giovinco anytime soon.

Who knows? In the second term of the season, I'm not sure Alex will still be "GOD" like he has been now. And in the club's long-term project, Gio will surely take Alex's place.

If Ranieri only loses once every ten games against big teams, I can live with it.

The important thing is that we react properly to the defeat.

Let's get six points from Lecce and Reggina and give a big performance against Milan.

Ranieri himself said that Gio will be nedved's replacement (in the summer). I honestly think that ranieri had a certain plan in he's head during the summer (to play gio as a LW) and then changed he's mind for whatever reason. We signed poulsen as a clear DM so that both sissoko and him can cover the wings when Gio play as a LW. I believe that ranieri knew that Gio can't defend and thats why he insisted on poulsen rather than someone like alonso.

Now ranieri is settled with nedved as a LW and de ceglie as he's reserve (remember DC was brought back as molinaro's sub). To sums it up, i think ranieri had an initial plan for both Seba and DC then he changed he's mind about both. DC luckly still has a place in ranieri's team but gio don't.....

PS: i think that gio is much better as a AM or a an attacking winger than a forward, he's best attributes is to play in space and to create for others (he's more of a nedved replacement than alex's).

i'm normally very critical of ranieri, but against inter, there really was not much more he could have done, and he didn't talk nonsense after the game, inter played better, simple as that, and we were away, we didn't get humiliated, and we can look forward to revenge when inter come to our turf, i just hope we pick ourselves back up from this

Sounds good but that one loss from a "big" team could mean CL qualification or CL elimination...Its nice beating the small teams but the best teams are able to beat the big teams. I dont like the fact of thinking its ok to go down to a big team when we used to be the big team that other teams struggled against.

It isnt going to do us any good having the mentality of winning in Lecce/Reginna and go down to Milan when both Milan/Inter keep winning. I agree that the team should react well and bounce back from the Inter loss, hopefully they can.

yea but they started choking big time near the end of the season, so no matter how good they were in the early months, it almost didn't count for anything
