It was the correct decision to fire Ranieri, Juventus made the wrong moves in the summer in terms of coach and preparing the squad for a 4-3-1-2, to actually make a step up and challenging for the championship.

How come? Juve ended with Fer, Zac and now Del Neri and Renieri is easily better than them. Juve under Renieri ended up 2nd in the league (I know he was sacked towards the end and Ferrera played part in finishing 2nd)

I think Sal means it was the right time to make a 'winner' the head Coach.

instead they hired an ex-legend who didn't know shit, and mgmt. talking him up to the our Guardiola.

Pretty much. And the fact that we go for a 4-3-1-2 with Grosso and Grygera as fullbacks, and then fail to adapt to a 4-2-3-1 which so obviously brought us more success.

For those who understand Italian, this is an interesting video. He speaks about Juve's problem, Poulsen, Diego and about his passage at the club. I actually liked Claudio, he was much better than any coaches we got after him. He knew how to organize a defense.

He said firstly that the team was stronger back in 2007-2009 because we had five champions(Buffon, Nedved, Del Piero, Trezeguet, Camoranesi) while we only have two now(Buffon, Del Piero). He explains that a team needs some time to gel and work and that having 5 coaches in 3 years is not the way to go, we need to find some stability. He wanted Xabi Alonso but they bought a defensive midfielder instead(Poulsen) because they had spent all the money on Amauri and that the same thing happened with Melo(we needed an offensive midfielder, not a DM).

He said that he wanted a replacement for Nedved in 2009 and that the management went for a trequartista(Diego) instead of going for a left winger and that they had to change the formation because of Diego's incompatibility with the 4-4-2. Basically, his point is that every time that Juve needs a player in one position, the board buys a player in another position and ignores the problem. He is absolutely spot on on this one and I fear that the same will happen this summer(not buying quality defenders).

He also said that the problem with the mentality this season was that Juve's usual mentality is to win every game while this year Delneri was quite often content with draws.

I hope he restarts coaching in the Serie A soon, he is a good guy.

CLAUDIO RANIERI: "Poulsen e Diego: le mie verità" - da "La Juve in Gol" con Claudio Zuliani

An interview with Ranieri and Zuliani...

quick overview .. of some questions Zuliani ask Ranieri

Zuliani ask Ranieri what are the current problems in this Juventus.. Can a team be constructed in 5 years with 7 different coaches?... Ranieri said at his time at Juve he had 5 WC players now, there is only 2 left DP and Buffon and that juve now need time and patience to build..

Talks about the transfer rumors with Xabi Alonso which he stated he really wanted but, at that time the budget was only 20 million and not enough for Amauri and Alonso... Stated that originally he wanted Flamini to poulsen at 0 cost but, milan grabbed him.

He said during his time in the transfer window all three need to agree on a player( Blanc, Secco and Ranieri) and all the players that arrive to Juve need to be agreed upon by all 3 except for Diego seemed like Blanc wanted him more.

He goes on saying we had a 20 millo euro budget and stats lets forget if it was invested good or bad( just talking about the budget)... Amauri was already bought and they didn't have enough for alonso.. He gets in the whole Poulsen transfer saying he wanted alonso as many saying it 20 times but, then if they bought alonso they couldn't buy amauri so he opted to try and get flamini and build the team starting with them two. He said that Flamini is not a Alonso type player more like a poulsen..

He talks about then they had to buy either a registra like pirlo or Melo....

Zuliani question about DIEGO..Ranieri, " I never said I didn't want Diego. I said that this team is built on a 4-4-2 with 2 esterni very particular with Camo and Nedved cutting the Defense back lines." He wanted to get a replacement for Nedved and he said it was Blanc who wanted the likes of Ribery. Blanc said they couldn't do it because of the money.. so, then Diego was mentioned and ranieri said he would need to change Juve's tactical system and couldn't insert Diego in his system.
