He achieved last season's objective, not that that was particularly tough...
Ranieri will limp along for a while yet, but I will be surprised if he is our coach at Xmas.
Our primary objective was direct CL qualification and some fool's hope title chances. At least this what what our board were singing about, totally unrealistic though and i was one of the first to point that out.
In the end, we got what we deserved and i was pleased of it too...
But:
-We only got there due to some individual brilliance that kept us in the high fly zone, despite the flawed tactics and CR's efforts
-We only reached there, because unlike us, other teams did not
do their duty (Milan),
they sucked too much and allowed us to slip threw them!
Not like we brake any winning records, just look at Lazio for ex, they have lesser material than we had last year and they are already a better team!
-Due to the calciopoli situation, our team was extra motivated and were able to deliver more than other teams, due to the extra determination, at times.
This determination was not CR's work and this year just proves that!
Without this motivation, he fails to motivate our players and our team looks empty/careless...
-On a personal level CR has won nothing and achieving the minimal criteria,
only because our team only did her duty, when others didnt and not anything above average...like never... so there is no insurance that he will start delivering anything more in the near future, no reason to keep him any more. We took a risk and it failed, as expected...
-His work with us was zero so far.
There is no sign of improvement, no gameplan, no attacking schemes, no teamwork, nothing that would indicate that we have a coach, that actually added smth to this team...
When he was brought, he was supposed to build the basis for a new team,
that would become stronger with new additions and improved teamwork by the years. But our team now looks as good as it where last year, at best.
He is leading us nowhere, his lucky days are over and we are currently under-performing...
So yes, our team has accomplished her realistic goal, but our coach hasnt done enough to ensure a season with negative results.
Every other half-decent coach out there, could deliver the minimal performances and this is no reason to keep him when things start to go wrong. His CV doesnt indicates that in the future, things might improve either...
At his best, CR can lead us to the place we ranked last year,
this year we have improved material, but less determination, the real criteria will be our performance and it seems that our direct opponents are not as helpless, as they were last season, they will too deliver their expected performances, playing their role to the championship, as they should.
There are no more excuses, no more handicaps, only clear competition,
CR knows that and pressure got to him...
The only real reason/s i see that would help him stay is the relationship with our managers.
He has a small salary, he has a smily/respected face for the press,
(mostly because of his white hair though)
He can keep the balances, between our fans ambitions and or owners plans.
He can barely keep the balances in the locking rooms too. (well not lately)
He is the perfect yes-man, assumes responsibility and obeys our owners happily and willingly, with minimum protest\ no personal ambitions.
He accepts any result and he is pleased with any situation,
while trying to convince the rest of the world, that all is well...
This is the reason that we will keep, until the need for the perfect scapegoat arises...
