He adds nothing to our game.
Couldnt said it better. Whoever says he does fine or whatever, cant be expecting anything from him. Generally too much of a no show, adds to the endless back passing generally, and is a bit too weak to handle the physical battles in the midfield.

he can be quality, but he shows too little of it. He's too quiet and always does the safe anad unadventerous thing. Waste of his vision, passing, technique and skill.

He has technique, real good technique, but I wouldnt say passing, vision or skill above the norm much (your description would be more fitting for Aquilani, and he been bit lacking too btw). He is pretty good at moving off the ball, offensively. But hardly see much of that.

Palombo in single duel showed him what he is, he destroyed him with his stamina , with a little tap, "Marchisio dont make me laugh" something in that sense

He is not overrated player. He is CM and you can't expect him to play as a LW as good as on his natural position. He should done a lot better today but he isn't overrated.
He's been playing in the middle lately and not doing anything. Today we played three central midfielders also, Marchisio was not a left winger.

Inconsistent.

Tends to disappear for 2-3 matches and then some something good, keeps repeating that. He lacks many things to become quality and he's not young anymore.

I do believe that Del Neri doesn't use him right, even though he rates him a lot.

I dont get people who say he is played out of position. He's been quite weak as CM and generally disappears, he done his better performances when is bit more all around box to box mid or fake winger who moves around off the ball a bit.

Well it's NOT his position, Osman. When on wing he plays good every third match, and that's actually decent and nothing special. What kind of a winger is he? He's not fast, can't get past opponents and offers ZERO crosses during the match. He does cut in but he's not doing anything serious and plays very simple football, avoids all the troubles and kills his creativity.

Like I said, he's very inconsistent but when it comes to his contribution to the team, it's not much and far from good. TBH I expected much more from him this season but I didn't see anything close to good. Aquilani still didn't fit in well, but he's doing a much better job in the middle. Like Jack said, he doesn't add much at all - being a CM or a ghost winger.

Yeah, I dont disagree with the above (in fact you are being too kind, heh), but what I meant is those using playing out his position as an excuse. When I seen him dissapear MORE as a CM then otherwise (even if he played that more), as a fake winger is a utility/versatile player who adds extra decent option with off the ball movement in his better days, while in overall adding little individual initiative. It doesnt sound great, and its not supposed to, but I seen he dissapears too much, and is pushed off the ball too easily as a CM, for me to see anyone saying "oh but he is really a CM, play him there" having any point whatsoever.
