didn't you hear the final interview on Henry?
he was saying Puyol could well deserve afew yellow cards as well as Marquez
the referee was bias

as a matter of fact, the decision to hand Lehmann a red is BS
the referee should have just given the advantage of a one goal lead instead of sending off the gk
IMO, i think the referee is just not professional enough to be in a match of this quality and prestige

Marquez was a complete turd. And I mean that in the most derogatory Claire way. WTF would Milan be interested in that sack of empty space in the backline anyway? He's on the Mexican NT, for crying out loud. Need I say more? Give me Chiellini over that dufus anyday.

Puyol did alright. But he was among many in the Barca defensive half that got pantsed everytime Arsenal lunged for the ball and decided to hit the gas on the counterattack. Flopping out of position, falling down... the Arsenal rear guard put on a clinic for the major holes that Barca's back line displayed.

Midfield was only a slightly different story. Ianesta made some good runs. Guily did early. Deco was pretty worthless. (Hard to believe it's his 2nd CL title in 3 years with two different clubs.) The Great One looked pretty average.

Up front, Eto'o was completely getting the Mutu treatment from Rijkaard. :wth: was up with that? Still, the guy did have a decent impact and caused real trouble. But Larsson -- damn. The engine that made it happen -- but from just behind the front row seats. Almost my MOM. He made the difference.... but Valdez is ultimately my MOM. Several key saves kept Barca from blowing this one.

And the ref? Please. Why he did not play the advantage in a match this big was beyond me. I hope to never see him again refereeing a final. Maybe I better call Moggi...

But congrats to Barca. The clear best team in Europe won, and deservedly so. Even overcoming a lame free kick given that lead to Sol Campbell's goal. It's good to see that injustice was overturned in the end result.

what if Larsson's touch significantly altered the direction of the ball? would that have been an offside?
Larsson's touch did change the direction of the ball and still it is not an offside.

Larsson did change the direction of the ball, Etoo received the ball at a position that is not offside. But it seems offside becos Etoo was charging down.

Bleh it doesn't matter, every attention is turned on the referee now. I wonder how come no1 commented anything during the Arsenal - Villarreal game :eyebrows:
