Sociedad just lost to Albacete by 3 goals to 1. :)

Albacete are new comers in La Liga as many you you may know and this loss proves that Sociedad aren't in the best shape.

With Nedved fully rested and hopefully getting Legrottalie back will boost our chances.

Miccoli should start up front ; or at least thats what i hope for.

what i hope for :

---------------Di Vaio ---- Trezeguet--------------

-----------------------Miccoli--------------------------

Nedved------------------------------------Camoranesi

-----------------------Appiah-------------------------

Zambrotta----Montero-----Legrottaglie-----Thuram

----------------------Buffon--------------------------

(i know im dreaming.... Lippi would never field 3 strikers)

what we are most likely to see :

---------------Di Vaio ---- Trezeguet----------------

-----------------------Nedved--------------------------

Appiah------------------------------------Camoranesi

-----------------------Tacchinardi-------------------------

Zambrotta----Montero-----Legrottaglie-----Thuram

----------------------Buffon--------------------------

Please drop trez to the bench for 5 to 6 games because he is worthy to start a game :(

I would like to see this formation:

-------------------------------Buffon
--------------------legro--------------montero
Thuram--------------------------------------------zambro

-----------------Appiah/Tacchi------------Davids

Camoranesi/Appiah-----------------------------------Nedved

---------------------------------------------Miccoli
------------------------------Di Vaio

Typical,but I think it will work fine..
and yes no trez.. he is out of form.. very out of form..

DV and Miccoli up front for me.

Camo, Davids, Maresca, Nedved - simply replacing Tach with Enzo.

Zamby, Montero, Legro, Thuram - throw in Biri for Thuram if he's shiat. Though Thuram is my fave defender for us, he needs to work for his place.

Buffon. Who else can play in goal? Chimenti?! :D

A crucial and a must win game is what really discribes this match, A victory will grantee us Qualification to the second round. and give us a chance to use the 2nd string team in the remaining games and let them, prove their worth. and as some of you mentioned, there is no point in starting Trezeguet with his current form over either Di Vaio or Miccoli. Hopefully Lippi will start both Di Vaio and Miccoli supported by nedved, in a formation like this.

============Buffon============
Thuram===Legro===Montero===Zamro
=============================
===Camo====Appiah====Maresca===
===============Nedved========
========Miccoli================
===============Di Vaio=========

This match is on our home turf and some players were rested for it, so we don't have any excuses. We must grab the 3 points.

That looks wonderful but we can rest assured that Lippi will start the somewhat out of form Tacchinardi ahead of Camo/Appiah/Enzo :down: Oh yeah, he's gonna start Trezeguet as well :wallbang:

    I think that's the most balanced, but i'd like to see this:

    -------------------Buffon

    Thuram-----------Legro---------Zambro

    ----------Appiah------Maresca

    -------Miccoli--Nedved--Del Piero (i know i know)

    ----Di Vaio---Trezeguet--Zalayeta

    Let's win 6-5 !!

    @Gray: I love how you guys come up with 12 man line-ups. If the ref can't count that's the easiest way to win! :D

    I used 12 men because DP's injured ;) My positioning wasn't really correct, DP's actually about 10 metres to the right of where i put him, on the bench :p

    i don't think we can left trez from the team
    because we don't have target man
    Di Vaio is a forward not a striker
    i don't think he can replace trez in the upfront

    Di Vaio's a good finisher, and i think he qualifies as a striker

    you don't really need somebody big to be a target man. Sure, you want somebody who can challenge for balls in the air and hold the ball, but he doesn't have to be big and strong.

    I wouldn't consider Inzaghi or Sheva to be like that. Neither would Henry. Yet they can hold the ball and challenge for it pretty well.

    I hope one day we can play DP and Miccoli up front. :thumb:

    i still sympathize with trez.
    a victory would be excellent, however i'd be satisfied with a draw considering its against sociedad.

    are we playing home or away ? if its away a defeat would be.. accepted for me.

    Well i think Lippi will make this selection:

    ****************Buffon*********************

    Zambrotta**Legrotaglie**Montero(Ferrara)**Thuram

    *******Appiah**Tacchinardi**Camoranesi********

    ***************Nedved*********************

    ****Miccoli********************Trezeghost****

    Davids
    Maresca
    Iuliano
    Pessoto
    Birindelli
    Chimenti
    Conte
    Zalajeta
    Di Vaio
    in panca...

    Davids, Maresca, Di Vaio and Iuliano with the first choise to enter in the second half.....

    That would be nice but I can't see it happening in Lippi's team. It might not work anyways since both Del Piero and Miccoli like to start wide or deep and then move into the centre and this could cause a problem because the midfielders wouldn't have a real target upfront to go after.

    Del Piero and Di Vaio upfront would be more effective since DV can play as a striker if need be, and unlike Trezeguet, he'd be able to help create chances for DP and others.

    I think it is possible especially since both players play that way with the NT.

    DV / Trezeguet

    DP - Nedved - Miccoli

    On paper it's very much possible, however to play that way Lippi must find the right balance for the team. In our previous matches when we tried that, we suffered alot in midfield.
