What?!?!? Juve doesn't even need a goal. We can sit back in our own half and cede possession, forcing them to attack, and hit on the counter.

A team needing even one goal has to attack... If we don't take the game to them, they absolutely cannot sit back and wait for us. We'll just pass the ball around in our own half.

Hence the reason teams needing a goal never sit back and attack on the counter. They have to take the initiative or we'll be very content to play out a 0-0 draw.

They can sit back to an extent yes. If it's 0-0 by the 60-70th minute then they'll go all out.

If they go all out from the first minute, they risk conceding and losing the tie before they can even get started.
