Between the two of them i would give Del Piero 5,5 and Zlatan a 6,5.

Del Piero tried 3-4 times to dribble past defenders and didnt even get a pass thru once and always losing the ball.

Zlatan despite sometimes having 2 defenders on him got thru 5-6 times.

Zlatan hit the post after a good solo effort

Del piero got a perfect pass leaving him free with the keeper and missed.

And i dont know what game you were watching but Del-Pieros header was clearly offside.
Do You know the game of Football?? Are You kidding ME?....OK ur opinion of Zlatan and Delpiero's performances are unserstandable and I pretty much agree that Zlatan did better.

But NOT OFFSIDES??? DID U WATCH THE GAME?? DO U KNOW WHAT OFFSIDES IS??
JEEZZ, i WAS SO FURIOUS COZ IT WAS 100% ONSIDES, ANYBODY WATCHING THE GAME WOULD AGREE! LIVERPOOL FANS ALSO. HECK ESPN's EPL BiaSed Commentators even ADMITTED... "IT WAS A TERRIBLE MISTAKE BY THE LINES MAN."

As For My Ratings:

Buffon : 6
Didn't do excellent, both goals were not his fault, although I expect better of the world's 1 goalkeeper.

Zambrotta : 7
Made good runs, made defensive mistakes also but overall did great. Good crosses. Our best player definately. I bet Chelsea are drewlin ova him.

Cannavaro : 7
Scored the goal that gave us a good chance at home. Solid.

Thuram : 6.5
Not as solid as normally but did well nonetheless.

Zebina : 6
Good second half runs, but sum passing and controling errors that could've costed us more than the scoreline.

Blasi : 4.5
Poor performance, more like week formation and he happened to be left with nothin to do

Emerson : 6
Became stronger in the second half, can't say the goals were his fault because we were weak as a team in the opening 35 minutes.

Nedved : 6
Did better in the second half, not up to his standards though, but the energy came back in the second. Connected good with both Zlatan n DP.

Camoranese : 6
Did better in the second half, largely due to him dribbleing more towards the in field rather than the touchlines.

Zlatan : 6
He connected well with the team, made good passes, I thought he lacked good decision making at times, but he was always well marked, and yes sumtimes by more than 2 players.

Del Piero : 6.5
I think he did well overall, he still isn't in his best form, but he has been more consistant through out the game. Got A DEFINATE GOAL, so i'll give him sum credit.

Pessotto : 6.5
Changed our midfield, gave sum much needed pace in midfield, and helped emerson win the ball. Good substitution by Capello

Trezeguet : 5.5
Didn't do much since he came on, his duet with Zlatan is not as strong as Zlatan with Del Piero.

Montero : -

Capello : 6.5
Surprized by Liverpools game tactics, But I think he did well to recover with his substitions. I think this guy is a good tactician and reacted very well to Liverpool's game, to bad he didn't anticipate it.

I think it was REALLY because our suspended weekend. We were not focused.

But to me I think Juve were not dissapointing, they played their heart out. I think we were just shocked abit by the EPL style of play which is Kick and RUsh. We were one gear below, and we not usd to playing at such high pace (Serie A style is slower).

So to me the goals were really an eyeopener, we played worst in the first leg against Real Madrid.

I think after the first 30-35 minutes, we really started playin and created many good opportunities. Zambrotta lookde awsome, Zlatan was better at recieving, holding, and knocking the ball to nedved and DP.

Emerson played better in the second half while Cannvaro and Thuram were much more aggresive, making tackles way outside our penalty area.

So in ALL, I am PLEASED with our performance, it should have been 2-2 or perhaps 2-3 for the nudge on DP by Troare, which to me should have been given a Penalty, but it was not so blatant.

I think we can overcome this at Delle Alpi.
We Can only play BETTER while I think Liverpool's peak performance was the opening 35minutes.

Well we don't have a good record in away games, especially those in England.

Actually I feel that the 1st 2 goals can be prevented. Juve was really letting Gerrard and Garcia to make a fool out of us. And both did well in making that as an advantage. Garcia's goal was really amazing, but if Blasi didn't lose the ball and Emerson were more focused in marking Garcia, he wouldn't have scored.

Frankly speaking Pessotto is a wonderful player that has been underrated. He did extremely well in the 2nd half, helping the team defensively and making decent crosses + tackle. Maybe old age has come up to him, that's y Capello didn't allow him to play for 90 minutes. Anyway I wish to see more of him in the future.

Capello should have been more shwerd + daring and go for 4-3-1-2 instead. The difference can be seen in the 1st half + 2nd half. I hope if Capello does this Nedved would be more of a complete player.

Capello curses sluggish start Tuesday 5 April, 2005

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fabio Capello is cursing Juve’s sluggish start to the Champions’ League quarter-final, but believes they’ll eliminate Liverpool.

“We just didn’t play for the first half-hour,” noted the Coach after a 2-1 defeat at Anfield. “We had the chances after that and didn’t have the luck to take them, but for the opening 30 minutes Liverpool were the only team on the field."

"We weren’t aggressive or accustomed to the constant pressure they were putting on us, but once you push Liverpool then their defence does give way.”

Sami Hyypia took advantage of a defensive error from a set-piece – just as Real Madrid had done in the last round – before Luis Garcia turned in a spectacular goal from 30 metres.

“When you strike the ball from distance then you always hope it’ll end up like Luis Garcia’s goal,” smiled Capello. “This was a difficult game against a team that really plays its best on home turf. Our approach was wrong and I take responsibility, but I am satisfied with our performance after the break.”

The half-time substitution, introducing Gianluca Pessotto for Manuele Blasi, proved crucial as Juve were a different team after the break.

“Pessotto is the kind of player who can get the ball moving quickly, but above all covers Gianluca Zambrotta on his runs. I liked the performance in the second half and the team as a whole really got back on track after Liverpool’s second goal.”

Juventus must win at the Delle Alpi next Wednesday evening, but a 1-0 result would be enough to see them through on the away goals rule.

“Our finishing left something to be desired, but I believe that after our first half showing this counts as a positive result,” continued Capello. “It’s not easy to find the right mindset after being away for a while and the break for Easter and then the Serie A postponement didn’t help us.”

The Bianconeri could easily have drawn 2-2 at Anfield, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic hit the upright and Alessandro Del Piero had a perfectly good goal disallowed for offside. Pavel Nedved was also making his comeback after suffering head trauma against Madrid in late February.

“Every time Zlatan gets the ball he is crowded out by three players. He’s not very lucky with his finishing at the moment, but he is a very important player for Juventus. Nedved is a special player and I was fully satisfied with his performance. I’d say that for the final hour the whole team did well.”

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has not hidden his admiration for Capello and gave his view on beating the tactician.

“We were aggressive and needed that for a game like this against Juve,” said the Spaniard. “I am happy with the first half, but the Bianconeri were better after the break and maintained possession well. We have a week to get some injured players back, such as Jerzy Dudek, but it’ll be difficult for Xabi Alonso to return in time.”

Juve star Gianluca Zambrotta gave an insight into the locker room atmosphere at half-time. “Capello was extremely angry during the break, but he didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know about our own performance. It was clear for all to see that we had to wake up.”

“I think we stepped onto the field without the right determination and were always second to the ball,” said the fullback. “We realised we couldn’t carry on like that and came on for the second half with a different psychological approach.”

“We proved in the second half that if we put Liverpool under pressure then they will struggle. Considering how it was going, we can be happy with the 2-1 result and clearly there are regrets as we should’ve done so much better.”

This was the first meeting of the two clubs since the Heysel disaster and several former players – including Michel Platini and Ian Rush – walked out before kick-off in a show of friendship.

“I wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this tragic event with the two sets of fans,” explained ex-Juve star Platini.

“Liverpool were exceptional in the first half, but I think Juventus will qualify as they are the better team and started to prove that after the break. With the disallowed goal and Zlatan Ibrahimovic hitting the woodwork they had some great chances.”

Ibrahimovic - Didn't do a lot but it was never going to be easy for him as whenever he got the ball a minimum of two (it was three on a number of occasions) Liverpool players were immediately on him. Good effort that struck the post. 5.5

Del Piero - He was quite unfortunate to be replaced as he was more involved than Zlatan but I can't blame Capello for leaving on the stronger, taller, fitter player. A few nice touches in the first half, combined well with Nedved twice, and had a headed goal disallowed for a dubious offside decision. I would have given him more than 60 minutes, but not a bad effort. 6

And i dont know what game you were watching but Del-Pieros header was clearly offside .

Del piero was slow and passive, Zlatan had a couple of good runs and was creating or involved in chance after chance(in the second half mostly).

Today Juve played bad but Zlatan was one of the better players in Juve.

Zambrotta being the best and the cannavaro and third comes zlatan.

Nedved and Trezeguet didnt have a good match(undurstandably).
Congratulatuions Tony !!!

You FAILED the vision test................

Emerson was at fault on both goals I believe. Just watched Hyppias goal, and Emerson was the man marking him, and that was his fault.

Zebina was the man marking him IMO.

this is actually not a bad result but the prformance of the team has disappointed me a lot, it is simply the the juventus we were watching, our defense was horrible, and i cant even think of one good player of us (well, maybe zambrotta, he was ok) anyway, i believe we will much better at home and get through

At this point, I dont know what is more ignorant....

people saying that we would crush Liverpool in this game, OR PEOPLE THINKING THAT LIVERPOOL WON'T SCORE A GOAL IN TURIN, AND WE'LL WIN 1-0

Nobody has so far scored a goal in the Delle Alpi during the CL. Even though, Liverpool are very bad in away games. I have no doubts about our semi - final ticket.

WE GOT ROBBED, Del Piero GOt ROBBED of that Goal.

Sorry, you are absolutely right, he was robbed of that goal, when i saw the match they didnt show a replay so to me it looked as a clear offside, but you are correct he was onside, close call though but definitely onside.

Still think Zlatan did a much better match then Del Piero.

Except for the goal that was wrongfully disallowed he really didnt do anything in the whole match, except losing tha ball.

So people giving him a higher rating then Zlatan to me is just funny.

I would like to see Zlatan together with Trez or Zalayeta. Del piero is only holding the team back in my opinion. He plays tottally without heart, not like he used to, 3 years ago he was all fire now he is all burned up.
