Real MadridJuventus captain Alessandro Del Piero has admitted his team face a tough challenge when they play Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
The Turin giants must overcome a 1-0 disadvantage from the first leg in Spain, and Del Piero is aware of the size of the task.
"This is the most important match of the season so far," acknowledged Del Piero.
"We will have to perform at our best if we want to get through to the quarter finals.
"The only way we can progress is if we play a perfect match, but it will not be easy when you consider the quality of the opposition."
Juventus president Franzo Grande Stevens is also hopeful the Bianconeri can overturn the deficit.
"I'm confident of getting into the next round," admitted Grande Stevens.
"Although at this point I think that Juve and Real have an equal chance of being in the quarter-finals."

R. Carlos Warns Juve: Ronaldo Will Score
3/8/2005 12:40:00 PM
The Real Madrid defender warned the Bianconeri that the Brazilian striker will score and eliminate Juve on Wednesday night.
Roberto Carlos believes that the Spanish giants will qualify to the next round of the Champions League and Ronaldo will have a major role against the Bianconeri.

“Ronaldo will score and hurt Juve. The draw does not interest us, it’s not in our nature to play for a draw. We want to win.”

Real Madrid go into the second leg with a one-nil lead, knowing that avoiding defeat at the Delle Alpi would mean qualification.

he is bluffing again!! jeeezzz he also says that Real would beat Juve in Delle Alpi in 2003

so dont care what this migget says ;)

FORZA JUVENTUS

hmm thats very intersting but the very good question is: Who will they scare?

1- Buffon: the best goal keeper in the world..
2- Ferrara: with his experience a nuclear bomb won't scare him
3- Tacchinardi: I don't think Capello scares, leave alone players from real :D
4- Montero: Someone who cares the less
7- Pessotto: nnno
8- Emerson: HAHAHA
9- Ibrahimovic: they wish
10- Del Piero: I think he is laughin his @$$ off .. they just hope that he doesn't send another player to Qatar.
11- Nedved: They are wishing he won't play, so nno
12- Chementi: LOL
15- Birindelli: nno
16- Camranesi: You can look in the whole world for someone to chest the ball like him but you won't find .. Plus his ball skills are amazing, even if they thought they might scare him, the fact that he is standing next to Tacchinardi and Emerson will give him the peace of mind he needs.
17- Trezeguet: He has lions behind him he ain't scare of $hit
18- Appiah: as if he cares
19- Zambrotta: Well they will try to scare him, but he will continue to open highways on their right side of the field and if needed on their left side too.
21- Thuram: They really wish they can scare him,, thats really funn
24- Olivera: Nothing is more reasuring that standing next to Tacchinardi.
25- Zalayata: again a team of lions are behid him.
28- Cannavaro: If they think they can scare Fabio this way then they are the most optimistic side I have ever seen in my life. HE IS OUR LION HEART.

Hmm our team is scared alright :D
Damn, I love the way he chest the ball. He waits for a high ball then he jumbs and moves his shoulders downward, and the ball attaches to his chest. And then controls the ball with his right foot!. Waw, When I play football, I always wait for a moment when I can chest the ball like that.:angel:

Capello has selection doubts Tuesday 8 March, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus boss Fabio Capello is still pondering which starting XI to select for Wednesday’s Champions’ League tie against Real Madrid.

The tactician was expected to play with a 4-3-3 system as the Italians look to overturn the 1-0 first leg defeat.

But Capello could opt for a more traditional 4-4-2 , given the fitness concerns regarding both Alessio Tacchinardi and David Trezeguet.

"I still have a few doubts in midfield and in attack, the only thing I’m certain about at the moment is my defence," he explained.

"Tacchinardi didn’t complete training on Monday and we’ll need to keep a close eye on him. I also need to look at Trezeguet who still hasn’t got 90 minutes in his legs."

The Frenchman is set to start on the bench, while Tacchinardi is needed as both Manuele Blasi (suspension) and Pavel Nedved (injury) are unavailable.

"We need to be fully concentrated in order to not give Real any opportunities on the counter-attack," continued the tactician.

"It is such an important game that I’ve hardly had to say anything to my side. It will be like a Cup Final.

"My players have been concentrating fully since the start of the week. None of the teams will be thinking about Serie A or La Liga, but just the Champions’ League."

Real are in confident mood ahead of the tie, with Roberto Carlos even claiming that Ronaldo will find the target.

"Ronaldo could be a key figure but Real have so many," added Capello. "Prior to the first game, everyone was talking about Raul, Ronaldo and Zidane only for Helguera to score."

But Capello, who led the Madrid outfit to a Spanish League title, believes that January signing Thomas Gravesen is perhaps Real’s most important player.

"He’s given more balance to the side by playing in front of the defence," he said of the former Everton man.

"He’s really played well for them in recent games and he’s becoming a vital figure, especially as such an attacking side as Real need someone like him."

Juventus squad: Buffon, Chimenti, Birindelli, Cannavaro, Ferrara, Montero, Pessotto, Thuram, Zambrotta, Zebina, Appiah, Camoranesi, Emerson, Olivera, Tacchinardi, Del Piero, Ibrahimovic, Trezeguet, Zalayeta.

Juventus (probable): Buffon; Zebina, Cannavaro, Thuram, Zambrotta; Camoranesi, Emerson, Tacchinardi; Zalayeta, Ibrahimovic, Del Piero

I think it is the best thing that can happen to us that Real is saying that they will beat us and Ronaldo will score and that they are better blabla.. i shit on that shit.. they think they are the best so we can only pfrofit from it, and it is good that our players don't say such things, we are always strongest when we are not the favourits!

forza juventus per sempre!
Oh, for crying out loud, do the RIGHT thing for once CRAP, and play some attacking football

We HAVE to score. We'll just have to depend on our defense and Gigi to keep the ball out of our damn net, while we attack with fury....

Its our ONLY chance !!

Zidane: “We want to win the Champions again”

“I want to play now!". This was how Zidane summed up his feelings awaiting the match against Juventus. In a press conference, he revealed where the key to the game could be: “If after 30 minutes we haven´t let in a goal we´ll be all right”. He said that “1-0 is a better result” than the 2-1 of two years ago. He recommended to his fellow players to come out “concentrating from the start" and to keep “their eyes wide open”. And he stated that: “We will give everything to stay ahead”.

-How is the team coming to the match against Juventus?
-We´re doing well, with the idea of doing something really great against a team which is playing well. We´re hoping not to lose and to be able to pass into the next round. Nedved? I know he´s a good player, but I don´t know if he´ll be able to play.
-Is it true that the team makes a greater effort when facing these teams than when playing in the League?
-We always come out and give it everything. In Turín we have to move forward, because we have to get through the knockout and we have to demonstrate it. In the League we are experiencing a slightly more complicated situation, because we are some points behind, but we always come out onto the pitch to win. It´s true that the Champions is something very important to us, to the Club, and to the fans. We won it three years ago and we´d like to repeat that, we´d like to win it again, but personally, I always like playing. The European Cup is something special, but I always like being on the pitch.

-Personally, are you worried about playing after your lesion at Riazor?
-I´m fine. I´ve worked well during the last few days and I´m ready to play. I´m going with the same enthusiasm as everyone else must have, and in this case, me most of all.

-Do you think Juventus fear Real Madrid?
-I think we have to have our eyes wide open so as not to be taken by surprise. Also I think that we are going with a better result than two years ago. Scoring at the Bernabéu was very important for them, they didn´t manage it, and now we have a 1-0 result in our favour. Even so, we are going with the intention of scoring a goal.

-How should the game be played?
-We will come out just as they will. The important thing is to come out strongly from the first moment and not to let in a goal at the beginning, because Juve play for that. We have to be very vigilant for that. We have to really be watchful for this situation. If 30 minutes go by and we don´t let in any goals, we be alright, because I´m sure we´ll score something.

-How do you think Juventas will come out onto the pitch?
-I think they´ll come out very offensively, because they have the people to do it. Juve is only defensive when they need to be. Now they need to attack and it´s good for us, as like that they´ll be all the more open.

-Would it be a disaster to not get through the knockout?
-I don´t know if it´d be a disaster, but I´m not going to think about that. We are going there to get through the knockout and we´ll give it our all to do so. It´s true that in the first leg match we could have got a 2-0, but that´s in the past and we have to focus on this match.

-It´s always said that the Turin players are always favoured by the referees. Do you fear the actions of the referee?
-No, I´m not worried about it. The referee never comes out favouring one team or another, I think he comes out to do his job. We have to play strongly and that´s that.

-Del Piero played badly at Bernabéu and they say he wasn´t on his best form. What do you think?
-That since then he has scored goals. I don´t know if he´s good or bad, I only that that we have to be wary of all the players that are on the pitch, from Del Piero to Zebina. I worry about all the team, although it´s true that Ibrahimovic is doing very well.

-Has the arrival of Gravesen been good for you?
-For me, for the team... He´s doing phenomenally well and he´s good for Madrid.

-Is it positive that Ronaldo has ended his goal drought before Turin?
-Ronie is like that. There´s not a period when he´s good or bad. He can go several matches without scoring, but we know he´s there. He´s done it before Turin and that´s good for us. I just have one thing to say: I want to play now!
