The key to this match will be shutting down Ballack and taking the game to Bayern on the wings. We MUST own the midfield at the Delle Alpi tomorrow, and our efforts should be boosted with a healthy Patrick Vieira partolling the park. We should be able to cause Bayern a lot of problems on the flanks with either Schweinsteiger or Lizarazu playing left-back, and also perhaps on the left if we start Mutu instead of the terribly off-form favorite Pavel Nedved.

I also believe we need to play a trident in this match to give us more firepower taking the game to Bayern...since Magath fields a diamond four in midfield there will be more space for us to use on the flanks, and we must exploit that. With Mutu roaming on the left and with Zambrotta and Vieira behind him we should cause Bayern a lot of problems, along with Del Piero roaming around and switching flanks with Adrian.

Whoever

Pessotto - Kovac - Cannavaro - Zambrotta

Camoranesi - Emerson - Vieira

Del Piero - Trezeguet - Mutu

And Ibrahimovic off the bench if needs be. I doubt Capello will use something like this and even though the media states Zlatan will be benched I won't get my hopes up...Capello has been known to field the same players every match. I'm just hoping Capello benches Nedved and fields Mutu...that would be a start. If we fail to win the battle in midfield and fail to conatin Ballack through the middle, we will be dropping points again. Only God knows what sort of performance we will have tomorrow..
Zlatan is going to play, according to many sources, and Del Piero is expected to play as RIGHT MIDFIELDER...:groan:

Del Piero Warns: Watch Out For Demichelis
11/2/2005 9:26:00 AM
The Juve captain urged his team-mates to show all of their qualities.
Alessandro Del Piero will most likely start tonight against Bayern Munich as the Bianconeri prepare to avenge the first leg defeat against the German champions. Pinturicchio warned his side to be careful especially from Demichelis.

“Watch out from Demichelis, he’s good at defending and attacking. Let’s hope to score as soon as possible, and as many goals as possible, keeping the tactical balance. We must use all of our qualities to win a difficult match."

Del Piero does not mind where he plays tonight, if in a trident or two-man attack, as long as he does get to play.

“I like playing, then the coach and I know how I can give my best."

Meaning no Mutu? I hope you're wrong, if you're not I'll be pissed as hell. Both DP and Mutu need to start! Bench Zlatan FFS!

Vieira return boosts Juve
Tuesday 1 November, 2005
Patrick Vieira is set to start against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night after recovering from injury.

Vieira, whose appearances have been limited by a troublesome groin injury over the last three weeks, was sorely missed during his side’s visit to Bavaria two weeks ago, which resulted in a 2-1 defeat for the Bianconeri.

Despite struggling during the second half of his first game back at the San Siro on Saturday night, the Frenchman is now back to full fitness.

“Vieira is no longer in pain,” said Capello on Tuesday. “He was flagging during the last 20 minutes in Milan at the weekend but I couldn’t take him off. I’d already made three substitutions by then.”

Don Fabio will be relieved to have his central fulcrum of Vieira and Emerson back in action, as Bayern are a physical side who are dangerous from set-pieces.

“Bayern have a very strong defence, they are determined and rock solid,” said Capello. “But when it comes to set-pieces they are extremely good. In my opinion they are best team in Europe in a dead-ball situation. It was set-pieces that did for us in both Munich and Milan, so we have to do something about it.”

Capello refutes the general consensus that his side have been beaten by worthy winners in their only two defeats this season.

“Maybe I saw a different game to you,” he said. “But I watched the Milan game again this morning and they scored from an own goal and two set-pieces which we should have prevented.”

“In Munich it was a similar story,” he added. “They scored a bizarre first goal and the other was from a set-piece. So we must work on our defending.”

One player whose return should help this cause is Christian Abbiati, who also returns from injury, while Gianluca Pessotto will be replaced by either Giorgio Chiellini or Manuele Blasi.

Mauro Camoranesi, meanwhile, is unlikely to recover in time from a knock sustained against Milan and will be replaced by either Adrian Mutu or Alessandro Del Piero.

For their part Bayern will be without three injured players. Owen Hargreaves and Bixente Lizarazu have been left behind along with the unfortunate Roque Santa Cruz, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury during Saturday’s win over Cologne.

Felix Magath’s side are confident of winning. His side is on maximum points in Group A and is also flying high in the Bundesliga. Their 2-1 win on Saturday was far from convincing, but they won nevertheless.

“Juve lost on Saturday,” said Magath. “But you have to ask yourself ‘why’. Maybe they had half a mind on the Champions League. That can happen sometimes. It happened to us and this is why we weren’t as good as usual against Cologne. But my players will certainly be up for this game and hopefully we can reverse what happened to us last year by doing the double over them this time around.”

That would spell double trouble for La Vecchia Signora, who, although virtual certainties to qualify from the group stage regardless of what happens tonight, can ill afford a third defeat in five games.

if its true that alex would start on the right and zlatan aswell. Then its very unordthodox way to play and a complete change of tactics on his behalf.

i think it would be a very felxiable formation but a bit unbalanced, alex will have to work alot.

i can see wat does cap want to do, both wingers helping out the front two, and not only putting in crosses or shooting.I think they will have to cut inside the defense alot, not playing on the wing alot.Am actually optimistic abt this although alex would be playing out of position. But he played on the wing numerous times and played well.So overall its not as bad as it seems

I wanted to see camo fit so we can see wat would cap do in that situation, who would've he benched ?ibra or neddy?

any indications abt our defense for the evening ?

So far it seems we'll play trident with Ale-Zlatan-Trezeguet....and Mutu on the bench.
I like that combination, think they complement eachother well. However I do feel sorry for Mutu.
