Mandzukic CR7

Bernadeschi

Spina Pjanic Bentancur Cancelo

Chiellini Bonucci Caceres

Szczesny

3-4-1-2
That's also good. Just replace Mandzukic with a better player, Dybala.

If we had everyone fit and ready I would've done a 4-2-3-1

Szczesny
Cancelo-Bonucci-Chiellini-Spinazzola
Pjanic-Emre Can/Matuidi
Cuadrado/Bernardeschi-Dybala-Douglas Costa
Ronaldo

Risking it all.
Cuadrado = injured, Douglas Costa = not ready for 90 minutes, I guess :boh:

Let’s go all guns blazing 4-2-3-1

Kean
Mandzukic Dybala Ronaldo
Matuidi Pjanic
Sandro Chiellini Bonucci Cancelo
Szczesny

Interchangeable front 4 to give their defenders some thinking to do. Costa and Berna on for Kean and Dybala/Mandzukic at 60 mins to up the tempo for the last half hour.

What we will actually play:

Mandzukic Ronaldo Bernardeschi
Sandro Matuidi Pjanic Cancelo
Chiellini Bonucci Caceres
Szczesny
I think 3-4-3 is the way to go. We are not going to learn how to play quick enough to find space between their two Lines of 4 overnight, so the only way we are going to be succesfull against Atletico is just fill up the box and send in crosses trying to applye as much pressure and physic as possible.
If they score 1 time they are through. There is no way we are going to put four goals behind them, so we have to be able to handle their set pieces. Therefore I would go with:

Rugani-Bonucci-Chiellini
Cancelo-Pjanic/Bentancur-Can-Spina
Berna-Mandzu-Ronaldo

Give Can some freedom to join the attack, he seems to be dangerous when getting into the box.

I liked one of the possible formations they posted on FI:

Tek
Caceres Bonucci Chiellini
Pjanic
Bernardeschi Can Matuidi Cancelo
Ronaldo Mandzukic
It can also easily become:

Tek
Caceres Bonucci Chiellini Cancelo
Pjanic
Can Matuidi
Bernardeschi Ronaldo Mandzukic

The more I think about that formation ,the more I like it . It makes perfect sense as we need physicality to defend set pieces . I would only swap Berna with Costa .
