Before his goal, Kane received a ball inside the box with his back to goal and dragged it wide. He was trying to turn as he shot. The Alli and Eriksen chances were speculative efforts from outside the box. None of those were clear cut chances.

Whereas Higuain literally was 10 yards out in the center of the box completely unmarked. He then missed a PK. Tottenham certainly had chances, but none missed as clear as those two. The Mandzukic and Kane headers basically cancel each other out.

At worst this game should have been 3-2 Juve even if you dissallow the first goal with the balance of chances.

Remember the narrative is that Tottenham dominated a match which they could and probably should have lost. Now this means nothing for the 2nd leg and it really is Tottenham's to lose after Juve threw the first leg away.

Do you think spurs will play in similar way or they might be cautious as they have upper hand in the tie
To an extent that depends on Juve. Spurs had no choice but to play aggressively at 2-0 down, and Juve let them. But I think Spurs will approach the game in a similar way. They will be looking to win, not draw. It's cliche, but I think it all depends on who scores first.

10-11 men in our own half and offering nothing in attack

That is fear

We played with fear for 45 minutes in the first half

Only fought back because we had no choice or we were out of the tie

Played exactly into their hands and to their strength's

Why are we not fighting from the first minute and imposing ourselves on them?

Why wait until we are 2-0 down to do something?
I don't think it's fear. In most away matches vs Serie A's top 5/6 sides, Allegri sets up his side to retreat defensively. It's not as Juve are afraid of Atalanta, Lazio, Roma, Napoli etc.

When Juve have taken the initiative under Allegri it's almost always when they are behind. That is when they play their best football. The first 75 minutes away to Bayern was the best I've seen Juve play in a decade. Total domination. Yet, the mentality that the best way to get a result is to condense space with 11 men behind the ball, crept back in. The rest is history. Even the home leg vs Bayern, it took being down 2-0 for Juve to all out attack. No shocker that the game finished 2-2.

Juve are so good when they run the game and are pretty awful when they allow their opponents to.

I don't think who scores first matters. Tottenham are at home. They will not be shut out. So Juve need to play like it's already 1-0. With that said, Juve are rarely ever shut out either. Both teams will score. Tottenham could even be up 2-0 and it shouldn't affect Juve's gameplan too much.

Both teams will get 5-10 chances like they did in the first leg. They should score at least one each. It then becomes a matter of who scores the 2nd or 3rd.

It's not unimaginable for it to be 1-1 at some point in the 2nd half. If that were to be the case, it can get pretty crazy. It's the CL where you have two quality teams fighting until the end to qualify. This could be epic especially if both teams are at full strength.

In thinking about all the tight KO 2nd leg matches over the years, one or two moments will settle the tie.

Well we have seen what happens when we take the initiative

We score and retreat into our own half

We will make the same mistake regardless if we are winning or losing playing like we are an underdog team puts us at a disadvantage no matter what the score is

We need to play without fear for 90 minutes which will never happen under Allegri
How is it possible to reach 2 CL finals, win 3 scudetti and 3 Coppa Italia if it has never happened under Allegri? Do you even realize how silly you sound?

2 CL finals which we lost

Last season we got to the final due to an easy run in, Barcelona didn't turn up for their matches against us they were poor, add in Porto and Monaco and is our run really that difficult?

We got steamrolled in the final against the first good team that we came up against so not like we were even close to winning the CL

CL finals only worth talking about if we actually win the trophy or come close to winning

So far in 2 finals we haven't really been close, never took the lead once and always chased the game so we are not that close to winning the CL

Serie A is a shit league, the competition there is a level or 2 below what we see in the CL

Since Allegri has taken over Juve, only 2 teams in Europe have been more successful than Juve. Real and Barca. That's it.

Do you see us winning the CL under Allegri?

I personally don't and think we have gone as far as we can go under him

A manager that puts more emphasis on attack will give us a better chance to win the CL in my opinion

But sarri has terrible record in European competition can he really deliver
Juve and Napoli are not even close to being on the same level

We have a far bigger budget and squad depth than Napoli could ever dream of

We took Higuain off of them and they are still leading us in the league, that is quite impressive when you factor in the size of the squads and quality throughout

No. But the problem is that we are sutck with allegri.

He is not a bad coach at all, he has given us unreal numbers. But if you go to the way we play, we have relapsed. Allegri first season here, when he mixed contes team with his ideals, was our best. We had a good mix of attack and def, and even then we didnt had a “dominating" midfield. Even with our mvpp. Thats because our gameplay is always around soaking pressure and “counter" instead of playing possesion football.

See, i dont want to see more comparisons between allegri and the rest of rejects in serie A, because allegro clearly has the numbers to steamroll their CVs... but what i want, is people to take a look at how we play, and why we play like that.

A guy some posts above said it perfectly... we only play to our full potential when we are FORCED to attack. That away bayern game was glorious. Also the way we played in the 2nd half after that first half debacle in turin.

We always play much better when we have to go for the goal. But in neutral, or winning... we never get to that gear. We are always playing passively and waiting, giving the ball to the opossition. This cannot be.

A lot of people adore allegri here and rightly so, but they need to open their eyes and see whats going on. Everything is not OK and this underperforming issue will not change until the coach also does a realization of his shortcomings and change the way we play.

This, and sensitive signigns will at the very least rail us into how we should play.
