Buffon
Caceres Barzagli Bonucci Asamoah/Peluso
Vidal Pirlo Pogba
Giovinco/Quags Llorente Tevez

This is the lineup conte!
Why the fuck would you take out Marchisio from that role? He did an amazing defensive job - Ronaldo had absolutely no space. This is the winning combination and that's exactly what we're going to do.

I just read up on the last page of comments, are people seriously against Marchisio on the RW? He kept the best winger in the world quiet for an entire game - the failed offside trap was on Caceres. Marchisio was fucking sublime vs Madrid last time.

juve dominated possession in madrid so i expect to do the same in turin so we need a proper attacking treat in order to take advantage of those opportunities and create even more. with giovinco on the right wing marcelo would have nightmares chasing back. yes marchisio was exellent defensively but now it's time to WIN games not just draw or loose. we need to show europe that we are contenders.

Crisitano's on that wing, so it needs extra cover... Giovinco don't offer anything to merit a place ahead of Marchisio.
You got Vidal and a RB there - what more do you need? Maybe Asamoah should play as LW and Marchisio as RW?

Playing Gio there would be suicide.
Why play a front 3 if you're not going to use 3 attackers?

We wont play front 3. It's just cosmetics. It will be 4 man midfield with Marchisio pressing little higher up the pitch. What attacker in our squad could be able to do that kind of defensive work?

None, but you have to be bold to win. Giovinco would keep Marcelo at bay a bit more.

I don't know if you guys realised, but as much as Gio is lacking in many areas of the game, he's still very useful when he plays out wide with his team in possession.

Let me tell you something about Gio - I like the guy, but the reality is he would have a hard time in women's football. The guy is weak. Ronaldo and Marcelo would have a field day with him around.

He sure is, but he's a dangerous attacker 1v1, is able to create space and get good crosses in for the likes of Llorente.

I thought about that as well, but he never seems to show that danger in 1v1 situations. He had plenty of chances, but always gets tossed around way to easily. Anyway I think we have higher odds to keep Marcelo and Ronaldo at bay with Caceres/Marchisio pairing than Gio/Caceres. If Gio really had that attacking potential then it would be worth a shot, but till now he hasn't shown it. Sacrificing defensive solidity for someone who may or may not offer little more up front doesn't make much sense.

Maybe the best thing to do would be to start with Marchi, and bring on Gio in the second half when the defense tires a bit.

And that's exactly what Conte might do. Especially if we end up chasing the result. I see Gio as a good sub and nothing more.

marchisio's role on the right is not primarily to attack, it is to neutralise madrid's attack and offer protection to caceres, is that so hard to understand for some people?

We understand Conte has Marchi there for a defensive role. Just questioning the mentality (defense before attack or vice versa?)

the last thing you want to do against a team like madrid is giving them space to attack. starting with someone like giovinco or quagliarella instead of marchisio on the right will give them that opportunity. Sometimes it's best to just sit and bide our time to attack, rather than rush to get an early goal.
