If it ends up being 4-4-2, it'll need to be a compact one that avoids getting dragged too wide.

Pirlo can be exposed in three- or four-man midfields, nevermind when he is in a central-midfield two.

If you play a relatively flat four, you are also likely to have to drop the whole midfield deeper in order to prevent spaces opening between midfield and defence.

You then need at least one forward to drop back to stop the team getting too stretched out and the strikers too isolated.

It likely just involves the trequartista playing ten yards deeper, particularly without the ball.

May well still be more 4-3-1-2 when in possession.

Basically, its asking the trequartista to work harder than he normally would defensively. Defend (then attack) in numbers.

Peryerya out really puts a dent in my confidence for this one. He's been pretty great in cl, and he offers pace and physicality a lot of our mids are missing. Pogba out just amplifies this. Man I think this is a bigger blow than some might think.

4312 was always a variation of 442 to me, the difference being the characteristics of the players on the wings. Our RCM and LCM are always defending alongside our fullbacks... the difference in a 352 is that the midfield middle is weak while with Pereyra or Vidal is 4312 there is more cover in the middle. Allegri never played a attacking trequartista (potentially Tevez or Giovinco) behind the strikers.

Don't expect Juve to go committing very many men forward.

Real are so dangerous on the break and 0-0 wouldn't be a bad result, so I don't envisage Juve being prepared to take many risks in order to try and score.

It's gonna be a huge difference IMO simply because Pereyra and Sturaro are way different player. I don't expect anything from Sturaru bar defensive output. I actually wish we had Pereyra for this one, we need his aggressive runs and a possibility for counters.
