Barca is a different kind of animal to anything we have faced this season. One mistake by Pirlo in our own half and their chances of scoring are much higher than most teams when losing possession in your own half.

He needs to come on as a sub when the energy levels of the teams have dropped that way he gets more time on the ball to pick out his passes and wont get closed down Park Ji Sung style and completely shut out of the game.
Barca dont really close anyone down Park Ji Sung style. If anything we will need Pirlo to start counters with balls over the top and take any freekicks we get.

Barca's front three really dont do too much defensive work and we will have a man advantage in the midfield with our 4 to their 3. I also think benching Pirlo would dent the confidence of the team and cause a load of unnecessary drama. We need the team to be mentally strong and not playing Pirlo in what is probably his last and most important game for us would send shock through the whole squad. Plus the world cup winners should play given their Berlin luck and the team needs every bit of belief that we can do this.

Relax guys. We're gonna win this shit even with Ogbonna, and it will be glorious.

But really, I'm scared as fuck if Barzagli doesn't make it. Ogbonna starting the final is nightmare material.

@Kieselguhr Kid I have no problems with Juve fans being motivated to beat Barcelona, especially when it is as you say, media paints us as some super-hero side that will easily crush you. But there are a lot of people who dislike Barcelona for arbitrary reasons.

As for not being dominant vs top teams this year, what you describe is mostly accurate. However, using the argument that you beat Real 3-2 on aggregate while we lost to them 4-3 (over 2 games) and thus trying to prove (I assume) we're at equal playing fields is flawed. We lost 3-1 to them in the first half of the season when they were playing extremely well and Barcelona was a minor disaster without an identity under Enrique not to mention that was Suarez's first game back from the ban. We didn't really get going until January, before that no one tipped us to win jack shit this season because things were looking so unstable and there was a rift between Messi and Enrique. You won vs them when they missed their most important player besides Ronaldo (Modric) and overall was out of form compared to their first half of the season.

And as for losing to Bayen 3-2. When it was 2-1 in favor of Barcelona, Bayern needed to score 5 goals to go through, we lowered our tempo and intensity quite a lot at that point so it's not like we lost a match where we gave it our all.

But overall I agree with your assessment (although not the examples you used to illustrate your point). I think this is going to be a tight affair and most likely the winning team is not going to win with more than 1 goal margin.

I also don't agree that 90% of our fans think we'll obliterate you guys. I don't socialize with a lot of football fans in real life but on our forum at least most people show proper respect for Juventus and know this is going to be a tough match. I still think we are favorites, but not to the degree media is making it out to be.
Welcome :)

Great posts, though I'd say that supporting or hating a football team has very little to do with rational thinking. I guess you didn't carefully weigh up the pros and cons of Barcelona before becoming a fan, and neither do most people who hat certain teams or players. It's arbitrary of course, but that isn't a problem as long as you realise it's arbitrary.

In fact, I think sport fandom is so popular exactly because it defies logics and rational thinking.

Also, I love the Fred-Seven debates

Strange how our best game of the season, away to Dortmund, was without Pirlo! Strange how after he got injured in the first one, we turned the match around! Strange how after he came back, we put in two medicore performances against Monaco!

If you think our success is because of Pirlo, then you are delusional!
No, I think a lot of our success has been helped by Pirlo, not all of it. If you can count a couple times on one hand mistakes from him, how many hands would you need to count the endless times he sets up our play flawlessly? Neither game against Monaco was meant to be pretty - we went out to win not to impress. Thank God you and a few others here aren't the coach.

Anyone can make a mistake folks. Anyone. Stop acting like Pirlo is the ONLY liability we have. It's a final anyone can make a mistake and be held "liable" to cost us the game.
Yes but Pirlo is always the one who gives away possession in our own half, when i was in the Olimpico for the final he played the most risky pass I have seen in a long time. It literally curled away from the Lazio players by inches close to our box.

He is capable of moments of brilliance but he is a liability just as much as he is a match winner. Barca wont need a second chance to score if Pirlo happens to fold over possession in our own half.

If he comes on as a 2nd half sub he will have a much bigger impact on the game rather than when he is starting.

That's where I stopped reading. Incredible accusation.

So he's a liability because he almost gave the ball away? Guy is such a liability that he pulled off "the most risky pass I have seen in a long time"?

    Apologies if I've misunderstood...

    Relax, guys.

Pirlo has one last great performance in him, I really believe that. He's never gonna be beast mode every week again like he was, but he's still a very, very good player.

And on Saturday, he will dig deep, he will turn back the clock, and give us one last magical performance, because he knows it's his last CL final, possibly last game for Juventus.

This gon' be some Rocky Balboa stuff.

For me it's less about Chiellini missing it and more the chances of Ogbonna playing in it increasing.
Ogbonna starting the final would be disasterous, I agree. I do think however, bringing him on in the second half if needed (for a 3-man backline) wouldn't be bad.

Me neither. If it was Bonucci i would panick as he is a huge reason our 4 man defence is so successful.
I won't be losing sleep over Bonucci as well :p

Players like Vidal, Tevez and Morata are the ones irreplaceable IMO.

    FINO ALLA FINE FORZA JUVENTUS!

I trust Barzagli. Sucks for Chiello, he deserved it, hopefully we can win it for him.

    I will say it again

Nesta out Materazzi in = World cup won
Chiello out Barzagli in = :shifty:
