How nice and refreshing it is to hear a manager of Juventus speak with some optimism rather than Antonio ''we can't compete with the bigger european clubs so I'm going to cry like a little bitch'' Conte.

Key was not that. More Müller for Kroos on the 10 - and Robben for Müller on the right. Müller on Pirlo instead of Kroos was a big factor, too. Pirlo had his worst stats in years in that match nearly getting no ball to the recipient - and Müller occupied him defensively very well, too. (Makes you think what would have happened in the Euros if Löw would not have had the idea about Kroos manmarking Pirlo and leaving Müller on the bench).

I guess the match has to be played to say how it will form out. Bayern has different matches - sometimes they really smash opponents no matter who it is - sometimes it can be a really tough affair. I would not be surprised if Pep would do what he always does - play with a 4-3-3 in the away match - in a formation the offense does not function. That means a return match again in which Bayern has to perform big to get through.

i mentioned this last time i talked about the game. Juve even were slightly better after conceding and up until that sub. after that Bayern completely outplayed us which was almost exclusively thanks to that rotation.

it took an injury of one of their best performing players that season for them to really start dominating. they were good before that too, but not as impressive as with Ribery-Muller-Robben. after that Kroos injury they destroyed everything on their way and the only decent fight they got was Dortmund in the final (but cant expect to destory someone in a CL final really).

The thing that some do not see is that Bayern still have this two different kind of formations - only with changed players. Bayern needs the four players - the 2 wingers (2 out of Costa, Robben, Ribery) + striker + Müller - and it would still be like 2013. The problem is that all coaches want to tinker with midfield control and ball possession. All the big Bayern results - all the 7:0, 5:0, 6:1 etc. smashings came with this system or a system with 4 offensives. And the dire results with the other. I even doubt that it is defensively worse.

I'm sure Allegri will choose a formation we've never played before.
No dont be so "sure" because we are not ready for 4-2-3-1, thats why I said we need to have the ability. Now just hoping we dont play Bayern with 3-5-2. Allegri needs to dump this garbage system.. It puts unnecessary pressure on likes of bonucci ..we will need a dedicated stopper, which is what Marchisio is right now in a way for whose of us who actually know how many holes he plugs without even coming close to the ball... but we will be asking too much of him against Bayern..
With the 3-5-2 if one wingback is out of position ONCE, its forces us under pressure (like we already saw against bayern with conte)and players like pogba attacking ability is not as effective...now a player like sturaro next to marchisio in front of boner/barz, chiellini? Airtight...a more free pogba behind mendzukic to get behind defenders freely, and dybala on the wing will open up some serious gaps in opposition..flexibility is a priority..pogba will destroy any team if we FREE HIM UP

I'm really looking forward to the tie against Juve. I agree that Juve are stronger than when we met them in 2013, but so are we IMO. We had disappointing games against Real and Barca the last two years, but I feel that this year we are much stronger. Tactically much more astute and flexible, better players and most importantly a real hunger again. Pep's departure at the end of the season will only add more motivation to the whole team.
