Very good effort by Lazio last night.
It would have been hard for them to play as team as athletic as Leverkusen at any time, never mind when they also have the edge of fitness and sharpness.
But they did the classic Italian thing of making sure they clogged up the middle of the pitch and forced Leverkusen wide if they wanted to penetrate and that always gave Lazio a chance to defend the cross if they couldn't prevent it coming in.
Unfortunate that they couldn't win by more given that they probably had three or four chances decent chances to Leverkusen's one.
Was a classic interpretation of the game by Owen Hargreaves last night, who felt Leverkusen were robbed, basically because the game had mostly been played in Lazio's half. No consideration given to how little Leverkusen actually created.
Lazio should be stronger for the second game having gained fitness and should have Radu and Marchetti back, so you have to fancy them to go through from this position.
With the pace they have, Lazio have to believe they can score and that will make it very hard for Leverkusen.
