Seriously which brand are you talking ? Serie A or Juventus? If you were referring about Serie A , honestly that brand is dead. When the likes of Torres is hailed as marque signing for Milan, second best team in league , which also broke their points record got whooped at home 7-1 , do you seriously think there is a brand?

Honestly, how many do you think still watch other teams in Serie A than Juventus? An EPL fan told me , are they still broadcasting Serie A. Now , everyone else ( EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga fans ) will have a field day, and the most common point I get, ( no wonder you Juventus keep on winning Serie A, its so lousy that even second placed team gets ass whooped 7-1 at home).
I'm talking about the brand of Juventus. A lot of people don't watch the league sure, but if they glance at the table every now and then, and see we finish the season with 102 points, then go to Olympiakos and draw or lose. It harms our brand.

Rubbish, Bayern tanked us 1-4 in 2009 and not a lot was made of it, because it's Bayern.

When we fail to win against the likes of the Copenhagens/Norsjellands/Olympiakos etc it further gives credence to the perception that we 'destroy everyone in Italy by buying refs but in Europe they can't and the results show'. Which harms the brand.
WTF are you talking about. 4-1 vs 7-1 is a huge difference. Especially considering our team finished 7th place in Serie A that year. We were a shell of our pre-calciopoli self by that point. Even bringing this up in relation to today's shellacking shows you clearly have no idea about context. Roma has been spouting off that they're the number one team in Italy, and finished with a record points haul for them last year, and keep saying they can compete with anyone. This 7-1 loss is far worse than a loss to Olympiakos away. Olympiakos beat Atletico Madrid FFS. Stop talking nonsense. An away loss to such a team is unfortunate but not the apocalypse like a 7-1 home loss to Bayern would be.

And Olympiakos is not on the level of a Copenhagen or Norsjelland. Same with a team like Gala from last year. Their still smaller teams, but they're tough teams that have fiery stadiums and often give good teams a struggle in their home pitch.

See CSKA holding Bayern to a 1-0 win in Moscow.

If we lose or draw Malmo away, that is embarrassing. Olympiakos. A draw would be a good result. A win, a great result.

Rubbish, We should be beating Olympiakos home and away, if we have any aspirations of going far in this competition we have to win, no questions asked. A loss tonight would give our image a further battering. If you can't see that, your fucking clueless.

Getting destroyed by a world class, well-oiled machine at home or being the reigning champions of Italy and not being able to beat Olympiakos in Greece? Further damaging the club's brand?

Which would you take?
I'd take the draw every day of the week. Olympiakos are no mugs at home. Look at some of the names they've beat over the past few years (eg Atletico, Man U, Arsenal).

Obviously I want us to win this game, but if you offered me a draw or us getting smacked 1-7 at home by say Atletico, I know which one I'd choose every time.

I usually support italian teams in europe (bar inter, I can't ever like them no matter what). But I was really happy with this embarrasment for roma. I was really glad that DeSanctis proved once again how bad of a keeper he is, after his comments about Juventus's performances in europe. Eat that, morgan !!

I can see your point with Atletico, I'd take the draw in Greece in that situation.

I said a draw would be a good result. Generally as a second tier team in Europe as in 9-16, which we are, 6 points against the weakest team, 4 against the second weakest, and 3 against the top team is a great group stage. 3 home wins, 1 away win, 1 away draw, and a likely away loss to the top team in the group. That's 13 points. That's fantastic, for the squad we have and our current level.

You're just uttering nonsense and pretty much no one would ever agree with you that a 7-1 home loss to any team, regardless of how overpowered they are (this Bayern is not better than last year's Real Madrid), is better than losing a close away match to a tough team like Olympiakos. And I'm clueless?

Go get your brain checked. It's a little faulty.

If we draw or lose, it harms our brand only if when we don't qualify out of the group. If we slip up, and still manage to qualify from the league, no one will remember this slip unless off course if its a huge margin defeat which I believe is close to impossible.

Yeah, but losing 1-7 at home doesn't harm your brand.

It is really quite amusing reading Roma forums like Chiesa Di Totti, where they all seem to be saying that there is no shame in losing to a better team and that they should just learn from the loss and not be embarrassed or shamed by it.

No wonder they've never won a $&@# all! What a pathetic loser mentality. Losing to a better team by a goal or two is one thing, and can be learned from. WTF do you learn from a 7-1 thrashing in your home ground?!? Don't be fucking pathetic losers?
To think we had a melt down losing to bayern over 2 legs with a smaller margin
