Maldini is an all time great. You are indeed a fool and a giant dolt if you fail to see that. He's only one of a few legends of rival clubs that I have great respect and admiration for.
Yep, he is a legend, he certainly was a really really good defender, but one of the best of all time italians? C'mon.

Maldini not one of the greats? C'mon people. The man was immaculate. He would have walked into our team at nearly any stage of his career. I think Baresi was better but thats no knock on Maldini. Baresi was god like

Maldini was consistent throughout his career and he had a long one, only for that he can be cosidered a legend. But he never was so good like canavaro in 2006.

I know he's not your favorite, but c'mon he wasn't that bad too :) He wasn't very great but he was a really good defender throughout his career.
He was just a hype. I know him since 1988. On the very first match I saw of him, he was brutally terrorized at the San Siro by some then unknown in Europe Red Star players. That was my first impression of Maldini. He confirmed that "laughing stock" status many time during his career. It's a crime how his good matches and tackles were glorified to the skies and his frequent brain farts and the times he was owned were always forgotten, even though they were just as numerous as the good matches.

I can't find that first match I saw of him. He was raped all around the pitch. I only found a small part of it where young Dragan Stojkovic is showing Maldini's brilliance.
Especially 1:18 here: Showing perfectly how slow Maldini was. He was owned like this at least 100 times in his career. Players didn't find it too hard to dribble Maldini.

Stop trolling Alen.

No way Maldini could get owned by such and overrated and useless Balkan player like Stojkovic
No but seriously. Look at the part at 1:17-1:18. Maldini is #3. Even if he's legless and drunk, the "all time best" defender will not act like this. That's Marco Motta level.
And just how many times he did it. Once Pippo Inzaghi made three successful dribbles in a row against Maldini. Those are the only three successful dribblings Pippo had in his career.
