The magnification of British talent will prevail. It will only be another year or so before we have to suffer comparisons between Gareth Bale and the greatest wingers of all time.

That said, Rooney has never won a scoring title, let alone a World Cup. At least he's won a league player of the year award. But that shouldn't stop him from being ruthlessly compared among the greatest of all time.
