Alex is still as fast as anyone on the turn and he knows his speeds gone so he adapted to short turns and it's made him great these last few years just a little flick here and twist of his body and he's turned his man and now he's got loads ofoptions ahead. This happens countless times.
I think we need him back this weekend, it will be a huge boost and hopefull kick start a winning mentality again :)
do you remember that run he made vs. Zenit in our first CL game last year...the once where he burst thru 3 Zenit MFs? that was so friggin' amazing

Folk going on about Del Piero's (lack of) pace. :disagree:

The first yard is in the mind, so he has a head start on the vast majority of defenders.
Not to mention he has some of the quickest and trickiest feet around if age and experience has given him anything it's given him and endless repetoire of tricks to skin his opponent, I don't think there is one player in the world right now who can produce as many skills that work in fooling the opponent ans Alex. Not even Messi, and don't dare say ronaldinho :D

and Zebina lacks the positioning/sense/skill to defend a player like a Ribery...I just don't trust Jonathan at all in these kind of matchups...and if we are expecting Grygo to bomb forward and create goals, then well, we have much bigger problems that Grygera vs. Ribery...we are not Inter and do not rely heavily as they do with Maicon
I don't think Zebina is that much worse when it comes to defending in general. Ribéry is going to get by any of our fullbacks if you look at their defensive skill, Zebina then being able to partially stop him off / slow him down with his physique and pace, which Grygera lacks.

Guess it's more or less a case of personal preference.

Zebina is the better fullback overall for sure. I dont think he was fit enough to stop Ribery in this game and Grygera did what he could and was A OK.

Wite that said we defenitly need a new pair of top fullbacks next sesson to truly become a top 5 team.

I think Poulsen played a good game.

He went in with a cool head and kept balance in the midfield. I don't understand why many people are so hard on him. He was the best sub in the effort to keep 1 point. If Ciro wanted to take all 3 he should have picked another player...

ok wow 0-0 i had a few heart attacks

chiellini and legro were rocks for me, i feel although some might not have liked the poulsen sub i thought it was ok, we did kind of turn the flow of the game after that sub, plus i dont think diego is 100%. amauri coming on i feel del piero shouldve come on TBH, his quick feet in the absence of diego wouldve been great with bayerns clumsy defenders, nontheless a point away in a very hard stadium to play in against a strong team isnt bad, problem is bordeaux winning.

i really feel were going to have to beat bordeaux away from home, and it may very well come down to the home game against bayern, that could be the key to our qualification.

if we drop points to maccabi were not going to the next round simple as that.

can i just commend diego's full pitch run and tackle, was excellent great hard work.

I hated Grosso in this game, I felt we needed Ale (but who didn't?), what was frustrating is that we could've done so much more in the second but we didn't - bayern was not pressuring us at that time, we played like we intended to draw during that period.

I don't mind a draw at the allianz tbh, more relieved than if we'd lost but I just don't understand the necessity in putting ourselves in this position where now we HAVE to win against maccabi - would've been so much easier if we just went all out tonight .. which we didn't.

I don't actually, but it doesn't suprise me, the old boy still has it and I'm sure he'll still be at it when he gets back. Simply amazing.

Salv, we had to beat bordeaux at home in the first place and we may have messed it up right on that night.
agreed, but then again i still think we can go through despite that.

we basically need bayern to beat then twice, we need to take full points against maccabi then we need to beat bayern at home and then same with bordeaux.
i think 3 wins and a draw could do it for us for me.

Well its clear that del piero is much slower than he used to be plus he can hardly last for 90 minutes on the pitch (check out last season games).

Still he can have those magical moments when he scores from a brilliant freekick or gives a great assist but overall he's performance is pretty average.
idiotic, you have no clue about football thus should not voice your opinion about any players, especcially legends.

but then again keep saying he cant, he cant, del piero loves to prove doubters wrong and has done so year after year

Guys, i think we will finish 2nd in this group.

So that means we will have to play the first knockout match 2nd leg away! And its been a while this happened. Dont know if it will be positive or negative, but we are usually used to "fix" our first leg problems at home in the second leg. (Madrid, Bremen, almost Chelsea)

We just have to win all that's left now. I hate being in this position, having to watch our backs for bayern's or bordeaux's result. Bayern vs bordeaux, one of them must fuck up against the other .

3rd pot teams are the ones that can compilcate things, as opposed to drawing with our top seed twice and winning the rest of the games we are really playing in a group with 2 pot1 teams(bayern and us) and a pot2 team (Bordeaux). That's the reality of it and just how hard it is.

This game was hyped up as the tie of the week/round but never really lived up to the expectations.

Getting a point at Munich isnt a bad result though. But it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth when Bordeaux scored the winner 7 minutes from time in the other game in this group.

It looked like Ciro really played for a draw today, maybe in the first half we where looking for the goal, but ever since Diego was substituted for Poulsen, it was evident we looked for a point. Which imo is slightly disappointing. This game could have gone both ways. Of course its possible that Diego wasnt fit enough to play 90 minutes, but with him off we had even less creativity.

I would have liked to see DP coming on (after Diego was off). And i didnt understand why didnt Ciro bring him on. We have seen in the past how he brings the goods in CL ties. And it def felt we where missing that something special, that sparkle.

Iaquinta was selfish in his chances. There was this chance where if he had given the ball to Trez, we might have scored, but he decided, after winning the ball, to go for the glory himself and failed with the shot.

Of course its possible, DP was never fit enough, but why was he listed in the bench then?

I think now best we can do is get 2nd spot in this group. I think we should root for Bayern to do double over Bordeaux? Cause then we will have better chances and as we play Bayern in the last round at home, Bayern could give us the game if they are already sure of being group winners.

Its still of course wide open, but those 2 ties between Bayern and Bordeaux will show the truth of Bordeaux destiny imo. And if we win 2 games against the minnows and Bayern does a double, we could have a easier game in france, and then the Bayern game at home.
