He isn't wonderful.

He is soild defensively, like him or not.
:lol2:

Sure he is.

it isn't what I think, it was right there in front of everyone

never said that he was, but you can trust him to do a good job defensively, which you can't really say about any of the other RB options Juve currently has
In your opinion, but not in mine.

I don't feel like arguing, but I can guarantee you that if Ribery would have scored, everyone here wouldn't stick up for Grygera.

That's the only FACT here.

If Ribery passed Rib and scored, it would be something normal knowing what a crap RB we have! But if he didn't, he's still as bad?!

well that's because most people here are fond of overreactions...Chiellini would have been equally to blame if Franck had scored

I've never hidden the fact that I like Grygera.

You won't find many games where Ribery only gets away from his man two or three times in an entire game.
I dislike Grygera as a player, but I don't bash him in every match, I remember he was one good performance this year (can't remember which team against was), but this match? He didn't offer anything offensively like usual, and he was terrible covering the right area, Camoranesi was doing that job, and once Camoranesi didn't interfere, we saw how many times he got owned. I can tell the same for Gross, he was terrible defensively, luckily Robben got injured, or else he could have been as bad as Grygera..

I wish If Zebina was playing, Zebina is not any special defender, but he is not this worse at defending, and he could have beend very useful offensively. He is not injured, and it still annoys me why the hell this guy is always benched? He and Camoranesi could defender the right side much better.. We are just lucky that we didn't concede all those attacks..

I'm sorry red but did you see how much camo doubled up on him?
And ribery had a quiet second half, that's because camo had just taken over the midfield and melo had got into his stride of adding muscle and clearing up.

The bit where legro stormed in with a great sliding tackle at the end on ribery when he was in acres of space, and grygera slapping his hand after in thanks sums up his game he's super lethargic and has no speed or sense of antcipation, he made one good tackle and that only happens cause he fell on his arse.
His passing was good though, simple and nothing more that's what I like to see from these players in games like this so I won't critise him on that front.

From a certain website:
"Camoranesi - 6: A few bright sparks, and a shot that nearly crept in the near post, but also a few sloppy moments." :sergio:

Zebina is also a faster player than Grygera, so yeah, he should be playing instead.

Obviously Ribery running past Grygera into space on the wing was completely owning him. Ribery is a world class player, he will get the better of his marker at least 2 or 3 times in a game no matter who it is. Grygera has proven many times in the past he can step up his level in bigger games, it's the others that worry me :D

I don't think Ferrara would be doing his job if he left Grygera against Ribery on his own or Grosso on Robben, that's why we have midfielders either side of Felipe Melo who can go backwards and forwards.

Just because Grygera has no offensive game whatsoever doesn't mean he's solid defensively. He's shit all around. No pace, no agility or acceleration. Mediocre in the air. Positioning is his best attribute but what good is that if you have the mobility of a desk chair?

And I can't believe how many times Ribery caught a ball in open space behind Grygera. At least 3 times Grygera had to sprint back to get in a position to defend Ribery.

I would start Zebina over Grygera as well, but that is because he is more suited to the 4-3-1-2 due to his superior attacking ability.

When it comes to being a pure defensive fullback, I'll take Grygera over Zebina every time.

Camoranesi helped out a lot in the first half hour and that was needed because the whole team was under intense pressure and was really struggling.

After Camo got booked and the team started to get a bit of a foothold in the game, Grygera was pretty much left to his own devices against Ribery.

Melo coming into the game helped, as it made it harder for Bayern to give the ball to Ribery early. However, it would be very unfair not to give Grygera some praise for keeping one of the best wingers in the world quiet for almost the entire second half.
