Ferrara calls for stronger defence
Sunday 27 September, 2009
Ciro Ferrara admits Juventus “gave away too much” when held to a 1-1 home draw by Bologna today, ending their time at the top.

“Bologna caused us some problems and we can certainly improve in many different areas,” said the Coach.

“We gave away too much. Perhaps I introduced too many players from the start who had returned from injury lay-offs.”

David Trezeguet had given the Bianconeri a first half lead, but in stoppages Martins Adailton snatched the equaliser.

“At times we were too open and didn't track back as quickly or effectively as we were supposed to,” continued Ferrara.

“Juventus are a team that try to attack at all times, but clearly we need to improve in defence. We also don't make the most of it when we're in possession, as we can be too frenetic.”

Gianluigi Buffon performed more heroics before the last-gasp goal and the Coach admits his goalkeeper is over-worked.

“We must try to make life easier for him by making sure there are less shots coming in.”

The result means that Sampdoria are now alone on top of the table with 15 points, while Juventus are ahead of Inter and Fiorentina.

He took the blame and already has the right feeling for whats it went wrong.
Quite the opposite of what CR did...

Ferrara is a man you cant stop admiring, he is proud, open-minded and smart.
The only thing that worries me, is if he has the coaching exp to come up with a solution fast enough...

oops, i am not familiar with the term, i wonder what it stands for!
I thought it was based upon a nasty decease (gonorrhea)
Sorry for that, no harm intended:xmas:
gg stands for good game when you beat someone and the "no re" (cant remember why I wrote 2 "e" maybe the nick was taken) part is not so frequently used but it is like "no chance for you" so the whole thing represent some kind of "I owned you" phrase

Every coach makes mistakes. The good ones find ways to learn from them to better prevent them from happening again. Homework for Ciro after today...

Positively Ferrara learn from his mistake. When i see the starting line up, i actually surprise that Moli, Zebina, and Diego play from the first minute. I think Ferrara really underestimate Bologna.

But let's also not beat around the bush here -- Ciro f*cked up. No question.
I dont know about that, sure he could have played a different team, but the one he fielded really should have dealt with Bologna easily. Ciro is new and has much to learn but I don't think he could have expected the team to have such a bad second half
