De Rosario was the MVP of the MLS cup a couple of times, used to light it up for the Houston Dynamo, now plays for Toronto FC.

I don't actually know that much about Gerba either, Fred. He plays for TFC now, and bounced around the USL a bit (Montreal, Toronto), I remember hearing on a broadcast that he played in Sweden for a bit. I'm absolutely clueless about those leagues. He's not terribly impressive, and I think he's already 30 or so, but he scores a goal every 2nd game for our NT. Something like 15 in 30 ish. A lot of that is fairly recent, too.

Anyway, I gotta run. Congrats on spanking Porto! What a great game to watch... very sloppy game from the Portuguese, but Arsenal's ball movement is amazing! I love Nasri... that goal was

She was onboard for our Olympic run... even if she hates hockey:frown:

Hell, I'm sure if our Canadian team could qualify for anything at all, she would show them a little bit of love...

It's rough being a Canadian football fan... :p

Ali Gerba? Yeah, he used to play here in Sweden. He's kind of a joke around here.

Yeah man, I haven't seen a ton of him. From what I have seen, he's got a terrible first touch, and he's not particularly well coordinated - especially for a striker (obviously not a technical player). Not a clinical finisher. Pretty physical.

Like I said, not terribly impressive... kind of a nice way of saying "not good, but scores quite a bit for my national team, so I'm not going to slag him off."

Just checked the Wiki, to have a look at his recent club stats, and they're brutal as well. 1 goal in 11 games for TFC.

But none of that changes what I said. If you score 15 goals in 29 games for your NT, any NT, you're going to be considered something of a standout (for that team). Right?

I really loved this line in his wiki bio:

"Due to his impressive national team goalscoring record, the much-travelled Gerba is affectionately known as the Canadian Gerd Muller."

We're dying for some quality here, people...
