Aquilani is a great player, one of my fav midfielders. But seriously, why would we sign someone who's missing 70% of the matches?
Liverpool would probably want around 15 million euros for him. But I don't think the Hodge is remotely interested in selling after Alberto's pre-season.

Did you follow some of the pre-season matches? I've seen him only a couple of times and he was always good. Can't really recall which match was it, but I saw some great passes and one very good long range assist. The boy is just great IMO.
He was amazing in Serie B and he played the whole season without any problems. When he returned to Roma it began to shatter. His knee was fucked up after his first injury and I heard Roma doctors fucked it up by not wanting to operate it.

I watched the majority of them (missed Tranmere). He was great in the pre-season despite playing with much of the reserves and older youth players against 1st squads of the opponents. He even had a couple of close free kicks. He was passing well, aggressive and accurate with his tackling, looked like a much tougher player.

The Hodge saw him(lucas too) as a possible way to rack in some funds, but has been so impressed he thinks Alberto can be a big part of the season. I like to think that he'll be used less that regularly, but that may make his impact greater.

4th choice shouldn't mean much. We need one good player when Poulsen and Ekdal leave. We're in 3 competition and all players should be very good so we rotate.

We should be looking for someone who's good with the ball, as we never really had that type of a player.

Among my favs would be Kwadwo (not likely at all since he's better than the most we have) and Poli (young player who wouldn't mind bench much I guess but somebody who can be great in future. He's showing some promise already). Cigarini was good option but he's in Spain now sadly. I don't know...it's hard, many of those who I like wouldn't come to be a back up.

If we're looking to get some winger and a left back and don't have much to spend I'd go for Greco.

Sadly, IMO the BEST option for us was Ekdal. Too bad we fucked it up.

Is Ekdal gone already? I'm too confused with all the dealings these days :D

Hello, Liverpool fan here. I've just been reading through this page and it's quite encouraging to see that a lot of you appear to rate Poulsen despite the Juventus board/management thinking otherwise.

Can you give me a bit more of an insight into Poulsen's game, please? Who would you compare him to? Is he better than Lucas Leiva? What will he offer Liverpool?

I'm a Liverpool fan as well.

Poulsen will fit in as Didi Hamman used to. Primarily as a defensive platform for the midfield to attack from. He's good defensively and solid on the short pass. Could be used to provide a more physical presence or close out a tough match.

He isn't anything like Lucas (different type of player) and I don't think the two will compete. Hodgson will probably use them in different situations depending on the type of team Liverpool play. Having them both gives the midfield versatility, something we didn't have last season.
