he is good for a backup here. but he is earning too much to keep him as a backup.

ferrara simply doesn't need him. and our board is doing well trying to sell him.

Prem quartet pursue Poulsen

Foursome chase £6m-rated Juve midfielder, with a deal imminent

The UK-based agent mandated by Juventus to sell Christian Poulsen has revealed to skysports.com that four Premier League clubs are chasing the midfielder.

Denmark international Poulsen is surplus to requirements at Stadio Olimpico and the Serie A giants are hoping to sell for €7million (£6m) in order to finance a move for Barcelona defender Martin Caceres.

Fulham, Tottenham and Portsmouth have all been linked with the defence-minded 29-year-old, while West Ham have also been credited with an interest ahead of the new season.

Lee Anderson, the representative working on behalf of Juventus in England, has confirmed that a quartet of anonymous Premier League clubs have made approaches and a deal could be struck by the start of next week.

He told skysports.com on Thursday: "We have had expressions of interest from four southern-based clubs in England.

"We are having a meeting tonight and things could be wrapped up by Monday."

Poulsen has two years remaining on his current Juventus deal, but he is said to be willing to leave in order to secure first-team football ahead of the World Cup.

There could also be a scenario which sees Poulsen leave Juventus on a season-long loan with an option for any potential new club to make the deal permanent in the future

If he was not 29 and has more than 2 years on contract, than loan can be the option, because after good performance on loan we'll can sell him for more money.
But in current situation it does not seemed possible.

Of The Premier League clubs mentioned in the Sky Sports report, Tottenham are in the most need - dire - of a player like Poulsen.

They are without Dawson, King and Woogate through injuries. They are not expected to be ready for the start of the season. Though they signed two defenders from Sheff Utd yeaterday, they are too young and inexperienced to be thrown in at the deep end so soon.

The soet of fee being mentioned in the English media is €5m.

They are all defenders, Spurs need Poulsen to cover for Zokora's place in the team not for the absent defenders!

I think Arsenal need him more.
